popeye1250 -> "A Blue Moon" (5/31/2007 10:12:27 PM)
We're having a "Blue Moon" tonight. It looks pretty nice here, I just got in from being outside for about 5 minutes looking at it. It doesn't really look "blue" though. Can you guys out on the West Coast see it?

Isn't kissing under a blue moon good luck or something? There has to be something behind that old song.

I am standing on my balcony gazing southeast, and watching the moon illuminate a broad swath of ocean and the various ships and boats moving in and out of the harbor.
Life is good.

The moon was a weird shade of orange in Maryland tonight. I wanted to get a picture of it, but I was at work. It is hard to take a moon picture, without a tripod anyway, the image gets blurred.

A Blue Moon is called that when there are two full moons in the same month. For many wiccans, pagans, ect - it is a time of great power. If the moon happens to fall within the same zodiac sign it has that much greater power. Then it is truely a "Blue Moon".
Hence the saying - Once in a blue moon.
