I recently did a journal about Robert being my amalgam of slave and sub. Call him what you want. Whatever label you use. I just call him "Mine".

The difference between sub and slave has always been quite simple to me.

A sub is always a sub by default, just like a woman is always a woman by default. A slave is still a submissive just like a wife is still a woman - all that's changed is a committment to another, and within an agreed role....

The submissive I have a first meet with will become my slave if any relationship develops - but she'll never cease being a submissive (or woman, for that matter).

However, no doubt, there are other dominants out there, who would not want to have a slave, as a partner. So, it takes the two to work through the levels. Although, the heart of the slave is the purist form for it gives all. A bottom says yes and no, within agreed limits. A submissive still has a voice, and a slave is the total essence of obedience and beauty.

Guesses it depends on what you read and where you gain your knowledge base from. I guess over the years, my thinking has changed as have my experiences.
