I'm not a huge Beatles fan, but even I can give it up for this album!

I linked wiki, but there are also some 40th anniversary stories on the web about it.

I first heard it on vinyl (and original 1967 edition belonging to my cousin) in 1980, when I discovered the Beatles at the age of 12. John Lennon was murdered shortly after; the only time I felt trauma at someone dying that I didnt know.

Since then I have had and broken a tape, and now have it on CD. I played it for my kids the other week, and they loved it too. Just goes to show what a great work it is that 40 years on its still so good.

i have CDs of Sgt Peppers and Yellow Submarine plus the Yellow Submarine on VHS - my UMs love the music and movie (though the Blue Meanies do scare the little one a bit).

I never heard of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club band until I lived in Massachusetts after my father retired from the Air Force.  Before that time, I was living in Spain.  One of my favorite songs was by George Harrison and it was called "Within You and Without You".  It was amazing how he learned to play the sitar and incorporated that into the album.  My dad felt this song closely resembled Morroccan music.

There were also rumors regarding the death of Paul McCartney, too; however, we all know that Paul was ready to go solo and formed the group, "Wings".

I just put Sgt. Peppers in the CD player, I have the whole Beatles catalog. I love the White Album the best, with Sgt. Peppers being 2nd best.

Is that why this song has been stuck in my head for days?

Yeah... I bought that album when it came out. I probably played it a thousand times. And my parents hollered "Turn that down!" at me at least a hundred of those times.

Geez... where have all the years gone? ... [:o]
