Master and i like rituals in our day to day living .... but lately i've been thinking i would like more!! i did some reading on the web looking for rituals - and either i already do them - or it's something that doesn't interest Master and myself. (Bathroom rituals as an example)

So i come to YOU Dominants!! What are some rituals that YOU prefer or insist upon?

The ones we have incorporated thus far (and this list is not complete): These are not in the realm of household duties, rather things i do for Master that he enjoys, and i enjoy doing FOR him.

1. Anticipate Master's need for a beverage, do an open hand delivery with can opening in the correct position, so he can simply take a sip/swig without worrying about spilling it everywhere.

2. Having lunch on the table (or within 5 minutes) of Master coming home for lunch from work.

3. Not taking a bite out my meal until Master takes his first bite.

4. Turning down the bed just before bedtime.

5. Starting his shower water and making sure it is precisely the right temperature.

Funny thing is - i was doing these things automatically - not even realizing that they WERE rituals!!

Thanks in advance .... i want to be the best i possibly can - for Master Michael is definitely worth it!

I don't know if this is really what your looking for... as it's more of something that I have my slave do, to help her keep her "center". I have my slave kneel for 30 minutes next to my chair or the bed everynight before she goes to bed. .. (originally it was for 15min)

I don't bother with a lot of rituals, because it is just more than I have to remember to enforce.. LOL. The only ritual we observe in the BDSM realm is the placing and removing of the collar at the beginning and end of play time.

Since they are important to you and you wish to incorporate them more into your life, have you read http://www.castlerealm.com/library/dsrituals.shtml ? It can help you develop rituals that mean something to both you and your Dominant. Good luck.

Here are some similar treads that might give you some ideas:

I've always been of the opinion that rituals are designed to reinforce a specific idea, belief, or concept. Find the concepts you want to reinforce and design the rituals around them, then they will have meaning, not just practicality, unless practicality is a value you want to reinforce.

I think Archer has the right idea. Just doing something regularly doesn't really make it a ritual. Full ritualization involves formalizing how it is done, and connecting it to some meaning. Ritual is a symbolic activity, not a merely practical one. It is more about shaping and consolidating the sub's perspective, beliefs, attitudes, and expectations than about the outward task that is accomplished.

A few rituals that Master Archer and I have to reinforce specific ideas:

1. When I leave the house for an errand I ask 'May I continue in your service?'. Implying that even when i am not serving him directly I am still doing something that he directs.

2. When he comes home from a day out of the office (his office is in our home) or home from a night out He sits and I take off his boots, brush them off and set them in a safe place. His comfort comes first plus I take great pride in keeping his leathers in good condition!

3. My everyday collar has an alternate toggle clasp so that I can wear it to vanilla gatherings, PTA etc. When he does add the lock I am on my knees. I kiss his boot and then he kisses me...implication that his lips are only one step removed.
