So I was missing my Boy and went out on a wonderful hot and sunny june day and bought the 'So Real: Songs from Jeff Buckley' release. It is 'best of' album pretty much heard them all - but put together like this they actually rock!

That is my album recommendation for today - So I am here with a glass of vodka&ice in my garden and it is a real sit back and listen kinda album.

Enough of my rambling...

You want to zone out ? Kraftwerk : Autobahn.

I just put it on and now I have to worry, my amp fried and I am running the speakers off my TV, and I think it is going to fry one of these days. Gotta get that amp fixed.

I could see me right now in my Benz going about 160MPH from who knows to who knows. Kicked back, that little hash pipe in the glove box. Laid back, hand on the bottom of the wheel, if at all. With my Grundig or whatever speakers cranking out some Kraftwerk, making the ride seem to go by more quickly. Perhaps I'd punch it up to 180 MPH.

Incidentally I would not recommend playing Autobahn while driving in the US. I'd almost bet Brooklyn, Ohio has an ordinance against it (you can go to jail for not recycling there).

If you like metal, as well as classics, and like music that does not all sound the same, try the very first Black Sabbath album. Not the easiest thing to get, but worth the trouble. There is another album everybody THINKS is their first album, but it is not. Very diverse, the only thing constant is the voice.

And then there's always Ravel's Bolero.

Believe me I listen to normal stuff too, but I don't think that's what you were after.

Oh - I go for 'normal' stuff too!

And Black Sabbath Rock! ( rather than the proverbial 'devil' - that's the nearest I can seem to get to a 'rockicon' bwahahaha) - and I get to see Iron Maiden end of this month... so all is very cool.

Seeing as I doubt I will ever drive in the states coz I am a total autochicken - I can miss Autobahn there but will re visit it with you in mind from the comfort of my sofa!

Ravels ok - I am more a Rachmaninov gurl myself...

Tools '10,000Days' is pretty hypnotic (and I see them soon, too - yay Darcy!)... I think I may just stick them on next.

I have noticed something about my musical taste over the years. I like hard rock, in fact my next selection will be Uncle Tom's Cabin by,,,,,,,,,,,,Warrant, yes Warrant.

But what I have noticed is that I tend to like hard rock that has acoustic guitar, piano or sax in it. Flute helps too.

In fact anything out of the ordinary, harpsichord, those tin things they make on the islands out of trashcan lids or something, any kind of whacked out thing they come up with. The only reason I can stand the Kraftwerk it that it is TOTALLY electronic. A bit different.

And people wonder why would severly punish someone for setting the presets on my car radio.

Playing guitar I would love to hook up with someone who plays sax or flute. I did hookup with a flute player but he died. He used to say "I guess I'm not too bad until I start hypeventilating", and I replied "No, you are at your best when you are hyperventilating".

Now I just put on Aggravated Assault.

Perhaps some Ferrante and Teicher afterward. I don't think you'll meet many with more diverse musical taste. After that, maybe some Snoop Dog. I got the hillbilly version of Gin and Juice, but after that I figuered I should get the original too, so that, no, I'll play that before the Ferrante and Teicher.

There is an XM channel that plays all hair bands, all the time.

I need to listen to the channel that plays the "most eccentric and bizarre music of all time."

Here in the UK, there was a programme on 'The Old Grey Whistle Test' (did you ever get to hear of that in the states, and ifnot, what would the alternative be?) recently - damn that brought back some good all hairbands for the memory.(Good being purely subjective).

They are releasing a DVD too - now that would be some bizarre 'pleasure' I think I need to watch again...

I'm a big fan of the old 80s bands - Warrant, Crue, Ratt, Black'n'Blue, G'n'R, Faster Pussycat, Enuff Z'nuff etc, etc, the list goes on for ever!

Having been at the epicentre of the rock scene in Nottingham (England for those of you elsewhere in the world!) and playing in bands it was a wonderful time, and I saw so, so many bands, many of whom would fly in and play only at the Marquee in London and then Rock City in Nottingham.

It's great to see something of a rock revival too - bands aren't afraid to turn their amps up to 11 and rock until they drop, and the as .dark. mentioned, we get to see Iron Maiden later this month at their Brixton Academy gig (in aid of their old drummer who has MS), and also tool in a couple of months.

As for album recommendations, I'm loving the new Rush album, Snakes and Arrows, which .dark. kindly prodivded me with, and the new Linkin Park is very good. On the dancier side of things, Sophie Ellis-Bextor's new album, Trip The Light Fantastic, is great bubblegum pop/dance, and I'm still very much into the latest Nine Inch Nails offering, year zero.

I invite all you fine rockin folks to visit Level's jukebox, in the Polls and Random Stupidity section; we play only the finest, including hair bands, Tool, old soul, Sabbath, etc, etc.

If you haven't heard them already, Dropkick Murphys play punk music with bagpipes (GREAT rendition of "Rocky Road to Dublin"), but i think my favorite example of the above is an all-female band named Cadallaca... not often you get to hear fast rock music with a Farfisa organ

Dropkick Murphys are totally fantastic (I was going to say they 'rock' - but that is an old habit I need to drop)

Yeah - I think The Term might enjoy them if he hasnt already...
