I had more of a "no shit! really?" response.  'twas in the paper this morning.

It's still a lot of pig!

iwannapullurhair -> RE: "Wild" monster Pig was farm raised (6/2/2007 3:58:45 PM)

Pork chops taste good. Bacon tastes good.

MsPoetress -> RE: "Wild" monster Pig was farm raised (6/2/2007 4:19:24 PM)

Hmmmmmmmm Bacon (in her best Homer Simpson voice)

So this boy got up one morning.

Took out his gun and said "Im gonna get me a major porker today to prove my manliness"

Probably went down to the corral.  Called Macon (last name: Bacon) over.  Fed him some pork sausage.

Shot him in the head.

Got his buddy to take a picture to prove how successful he was as a Big White Hunter.

How much of a chase does a 1,000 lb porker give?

Masque66 -> RE: "Wild" monster Pig was farm raised (6/3/2007 1:03:35 AM)

Feel bad for the pig.  I like them.  Poor thing probably had no idea anything was wrong til the bullet hit.

I feel bad for the porker, I do....... I just want to know how a 1,000 lb porker gave chase for 3 hours, and the chubby kid kept up enough to kill it. I think the story was a little fabricated.

In my opinion

Synchronized his watch as the Mission Impossible theme swelled in the background.

He probably walked the pig down to the store.  Walked it home.  Made a fire.  Sat with Fred while he cooked the sausage.  Fed him one.

Checked his watch, saw that his 3 hour chase was up.

Shot Fred in the head.

That part always baffled me. Who runs away from a killer pig for three hours before figuring out that they can shoot it?

That is the exact scenario I had in my head, except the sausage was pork chops.

The pig was somebodies pet.

Which raises another question. A pig, use to people, would give chase?

The little brat and his dad probably poked it with a stick and called it names.

Yeah, I got that part. I meant, the original story didn't make sense. Pigs like that are scary. If you have a gun, why try and escape when you already know that it can run for longer than you? And why keep it up for 3 hours? Of course, I never really considered that somebody would keep a giant pig for a pet...

What exactly do you call a 1000 pound pet pig to piss it off?

Porky?

Sinergy

p.s.  More likely that the kid hopped on his moped with some pork chops and let Fred chase him around the yard.

p.p.s.  In case you are wondering, I am pretty dubious about the pig actually giving chase.  It was shot inside the fence of a 150 acre farm...

I don't think the pig could run longer than him... he obviously stopped going to the gym or his membership expired.

I think they were chasing the pig, not the other way around.

That blows the pork chop connection to the Mission Impossible theory out of the water.

FR...
The pig wasn't exactly a pet in the way most people use the word pet, although it had been raised on a farm. The kid who shot the pig also had no idea that the pig had been raised in a domestic setting.
