MyMastersOwn -> RE: All very serious (6/4/2007 8:25:53 AM)

My life in gerneral has always been very serious to me. And I've delt and handled things as they came in the manner that called for. Even been known to be called a Dom in sheeps clothing as a submissive because of the way I have lived my life as a single mother.

But as far as relationships. That's where the snail comes in. I prefer taking things slow. Getting to know who I am talking with. In person or on line. (Not that i'm in the seeking mode because i'm not now). But still, to me.. if you do not have the time to get learn more of someone...and just jump straight in... giving out phone numbers...and etc... there's no safety net to fall back on. So when you end up with harrassing calls. E-mails, instant messages....and other things... got no one to blame. I stop.. look...listen...I probably over look when i'm looking for red flags. And that even includes friends. I've probably been screwed over more so by "friends" than enemies. I totally understand the phrase... keep your enimies close..but your friends closer.

Yes...many people here take this way too seriously. They are usually the people who take life itself too seriously. If we cant enjoy life what good is living?

eveningtwilight -> RE: All very serious (6/5/2007 2:03:30 PM)

I think profiles can definately get quite serious because it narrows down the number of times we are contacted, and some people really want to have a quick method of dealing with all the mail, and sometimes we assume that others are interested in the same. Otherwise, we end up getting emailed the same questions, "So, what exactly are you looking for?" and so forth. Simply stating who you are can land you with 20+ emails a day; most of which are not up your alley and you may not have time for. And often time readers don't want to have to waste their time contacting us if we aren't what they are after. We are all just so different with different interests that I think being to the point can actually make other peoples' lives easier. Otherwise, we are answering the same questions to every passer-by.

i unserstand they are trying to see if they are compatible, but what i mean is when a profile says friends only, surely that means friends only?

You are assuming they read your profile

I agree.  I really don't like on-line chatting, so to me those first e-mails are to see if we have enough in commen to make it worth meeting.  I even posted several journal entries with my philosophy and going into detail on what someone might expect to cut down the number of people I have to weed through.  I don't feel the need to chat for hours before I meet someone, it's much simpler to sit down for coffee and chat.  I like being able to see facial expressions, hear the tone of his voice and find out early if he has bad breath.

A lot of us need a good water gun fight to cool down!  Hahaha...
Thank you for this great post! ;-)

RaynaSub -> RE: All very serious (6/5/2007 3:23:19 PM)

Great thread, it appears that many here have a compulsive need to be
right or correct.
Many arguments here are based on trying to convince someone that "your way"
is the right way of living, thinking and doing in the world.
I find a lot of it sad.

marfre -> RE: All very serious (6/5/2007 6:26:47 PM)

I find the posts that are intended to be the most serious are oftentimes the posts most likely to make me giggle….

Yeah, but every time I tell a woman let’s have fun, she says this is serious. When I say lets be serious, she says lets just have fun. A guy can’t win.

Try a compromise…. “Let’s have some serious fun?” Maybe that will work.

Ok, i have noticed a theme, a lot of people on here seem to be very serious most of the time, not just about BDSM but about life generally. It seems like everyone is in a rush to exchange credentials ive dont yadda yadda and yadda yadda im an expert in this this and this and i dont do this, in the second message. Its all rather odd to me, and despite all the catagories of things that we can tick what ee are people ignore it all anyways and treat you in the way that they want you to be. Im just a bit confused, think it sould all lighten up slightly.

Personally, I think one should always be sirius, if not alpha centauri.

Maybe that's the answer to the OP. We are having serious fun here.

minnetar -> RE: All very serious (6/5/2007 8:02:41 PM)

i believe it depends on the issues and the consequences to them.  There are certain things i believe strongly in because it might be a person's livelihood.  Secondly, i am someone who is sensitive so when someone is very critical it can bother me.  It is all based on various personalities.

colouredin -> RE: All very serious (6/6/2007 2:33:24 AM)

Its ironic reading this, because the responses i got are far differant to the ones i was expecting, i imagined "because this is our life... this is serious" all that kinda thing, but reading has given me a far differant impression.
and i guess it is subjective and dependant on situation yeah.

Areflectionofyou -> RE: All very serious (6/6/2007 3:46:24 AM)

most of the time im pretty silly .....anyways we are all different thank God

LadyIce -> RE: All very serious (6/6/2007 4:07:40 AM)

Interesting thread, I don't think of the forums as serious vs. non-serious.
I see them as debate central.
Put on your boxing gloves and get ready to box/debate.
Many of the threads turn into debating or shouting matches.
My kink and views are right!
You are so wrong!

marieToo -> RE: All very serious (6/6/2007 4:14:07 AM)

I agree with your observation, and would add that there are plenty of light-hearted, humorous, ongoing threads on the boards.  So you can choose to mainly come here for a laugh or some fun, if you don't want to deal with the more heated stuff.

Those humorous threads never die either....I'ts quite irritating, but lots of people enjoy them apparently.
