GreyStorm -> Top 100 rock songs (5/24/2005 2:16:17 PM)

I just read Broken Prey (great book if you love detective stories). Anyway, the main character was given an IPOD and a gift card good for 100 songs to download for the IPOD. He decided to create a list of the top 100 songs of the rock era. His friends got into the act constantly suggesting songs. He had well over 100 to chose from and he felt it was a challenge to narrow the list to the top 100, not expand the list to more than 100. I'm not gonna ask for your top 100, but if you had to list a song or two, what would be on there for you.

Just Rock? I have well over 1000 cd's from all area's of music. Depending on my mood it ranges from classical to rock. No country or rap though. Everything else.

sissymaidlola -> RE: Top 50 rock songs (5/30/2005 11:17:10 PM)

Well sissy doesn't have the time to come up with 100 top rock titles, but he completely surprised himself that he could write down the following 50 tracks straight off the top of his head. He originally set out to come up with twenty titles but came up with more ... so he aimed to round out the selection at thirty. And he overshot again, and the same thing happened at forty. sissy Was finally able to stem the flow at fifty. sissy Is not saying that the following tracks are his final say in what are his favorite fifty rock songs, but almost all the following tracks would probably make his final list of 100 rock titles. sissy Has multiple albums by all of these artists and it was really difficult to restrict his selection to just one track per artist (a necessary limit he set for himself, otherwise the whole list would have looked more like an Eric Clapton and Cream discography!).

The Allman Brothers - Whipping Post
The Animals - House of the Rising Sun
Atomic Rooster - Tomorrow Night
Bad Company - Feel Like Makin' Love
Black Sabbath - Sweet Leaf

The Boomtown Rats - I Don't Like Mondays
David Bowie - Rebel, Rebel
Eric Clapton - Cocaine
Credence Clearwater Revival - Have You Ever Seen the Rain?
Cream - Sunshine of Your Love

The top song has got to be " A Day In The Life".
Also "God Save The Queen" by the Sex Pistols is a perfect Rock and Roll song.

feline -> RE: Top 100 rock songs (6/29/2005 3:19:11 PM)

Well since you said "but if you had to list a song or two", I'll be good and only give you two, ok maybe three. And I will stick with rock. (ok maybe it's metal)[;)] Which is a lot harder then I thought it would be.

Disturbed - Devour
Staind - Epiphany
Godsmack - Voodoo

GreyStorm -> RE: Top 100 rock songs (7/1/2005 7:19:38 PM)

Yeah, so many songs, so little time, but that's the point, limit yourself and pick the Top 100. Your own personal Top 100.

tallandhard -> RE: Top 100 rock songs (7/15/2005 5:42:29 PM)

I would have to add the following to the list

Velvet Dreams by Genitorturers
Tomarrow Wendy by Concreate Blonde
Zombie Eaters by Faith No More
Wrathchild by Iron Maiden
Skulls by The Misfits
Archangel by Samhain
Black by Pearl Jam
I Wanna Be Sedated by The Ramones
Rise Above by Black Flag
Bad Reputation by Joan Jet and the Runaways

But I do not thing I realy could ever choose just 100. My itunes lib is up to around 3000 tracks and I still have hundards of cd to rip sitting on the shelf.

happypervert -> RE: Top 100 rock songs (7/15/2005 6:24:25 PM)

quote:

Traffic- Can't Find My Way Home

Make that Blind Faith, not Traffic. Still Winwood though.

And as long as I'm posting this, here are 2 more I should have put on my list above:

Born on the Bayou -- Creedence Clearwater Revival
Summertime -- Janis Joplin

heh. I had some ideas for the songs I would put on the Ipod of somebody I don't like; I guess that is another thread.
