I think that the question has relative merit. Had the indians kept the europeans out, then their society would have prevailed. However, they allowed the europeans in and taught them how to survive. Then it took approximately 400 years for the europeans to finally impose their will upon the indians. As for the superior weapons theory, the bow and arrow put out more firepower and possibly more accurately than the flintlocks used by early setlers (I watch a lot of military channel and history channel and they are my source). Now using the question as it applies to today, If we don't secure our borders and just let everyone that wants in to come in, without regard to anything, thus making unrestricted immigration legal, what will happen to our society? And if we secure our borders, then aren't we depriving someone of the opportunities given to us by our country and what makes us so special? I surely don't know the answer to that, and I doubt that anyone does, but it does provide for food for thought.
