Different circumstances, but still a very interesting point.

The two situations aren't remotely alike enough to be comparable.  We violently overtook the Native Americans' land.  The immigrants now just want a better life and they're not committing genocide or forcing us to move in mass quantities.  It brings many new problems, but it's fundamentally not a similar situation.

Edited to add:  I wish life was ever as easy as true or false.

The premise is a bit flawed, but an interesting question.  There was no centralized government of Native Americans to control immigration.

I would like to point out that both the Native Americans and the Iraqis discovered what happens when White Men led by a cowboy come on to their land illegally bearing advanced weaponry.

Question lacks thought...the Indians had not ability to control immigration...Nor the abiltiy to truly deter the oncoming onslaught of whitey.

Domiguy puts ear to floor....."Hmmmm...White man come....one... maybe two day."

Yes, and possibly no.

(Did you actually have a question?)

I will worry about immigration when all the German, Irish, and Eastern Europeans who immigrated in the late19th and early 20th century all agree to go back to where they came from.

Question is/was, is this statement ring true to you?
It actually caught my attention when I read it. I thought it was so funny, but then, I went,*hey , wait, this is true*. To me anyway.

It's true. Unfortunately only true for the ones left that have access to CNN to see what's going on with current issues outside the Reservation.

I take it the analogy is comparing the American Indians  to what is happening to day in the U.S.?  There are no comparisons...When whitey came to this land it was not because the Indians were offering a better life or opportunity.

Perhaps the question would be better phrased "The American Indians found out what happens when you don't partake in an understanding of science or any type of an industrial and cultual revolution.".....Sooner or later you will meet a people who have and the results are usually devastating to the former."

edited for addition~
Not an analogy at all, just a bit of sarcasm to the OP statement, which implies the possibilty for comaprison. My original response was intended to indicate that they did learn about immigration control. In a later time, and not by thier own experience implied in the OP. Yes Domiguy, the issue of Native American culture has never been about immigration, and your rephrasing of the question and answere in that manner is much more historically correct. With progress comes greed no doubt. Cultures are conquered and scantily preserved. But then if we want the correct answere, we have to ask the right question do we not.

Each question I believe has a valid thought and answer, all very multi faceted.
Yet each question and answer end up intertwined just like everything else we
question.  I think the talent is forming the desired response.

The situations are nothing alike.

Them Navajos, Mohicans and so on were all unlawful enemy combatants, plain and simple, resisting a God given duty to spread the word of freedom, or salvation as it was called back then.

If only God listened more and spoke less.

Hello Quivver, Indeed each question has a valid thought an answere. Sometimes they are multi faceted, intertwined, and sometimes plain and simple. In reference to the OP's statement, the question is premised as "is this statement" true or false. As written, yes, the statement is true. The statement itself does not indicate when or how Native Americans found out what happens. My response is based simply on answering the validity of the statement itself as written.

Or perhaps (given recent findings on the matter):

"When the people now called Native Americans first travelled to this continent, did those here before them find out first hand about the dangers from immigration?"

I have to admit, I have always been told that Adam and Eve were either Irish or American Indian, depending on which side of the family tree was speaking at the time. So there was never any immigration in the Americas until....?

People have been killing other people and taking their stuff since prehistoric times...and they have been immigrating and doing the same to strangers for just as long.

I think that the question has relative merit.   Had the indians kept the europeans out, then their society would have prevailed.   However, they allowed the europeans in and taught them how to survive.   Then it took approximately 400 years for the europeans to finally impose their will upon the indians.   As for the superior weapons theory, the bow and arrow put out more firepower and possibly more accurately than the flintlocks used by early setlers (I watch a lot of military channel and history channel and they are my source).

Now using the question as it applies to today, If we don't secure our borders and just let everyone that wants in to come in, without regard to anything, thus making unrestricted immigration legal, what will happen to our society?   And if we secure our borders, then aren't we depriving someone of the opportunities given to us by our country and what makes us so special?   I surely don't know the answer to that, and I doubt that anyone does, but it does provide for food for thought.
