LIGHT & shadow

I am Master's shadow when he moves I follow.
Sometimes I am exhibited before him.
Other times I am nothing.
Faded into the background still as deaths slumber,
Until a want arises,
A fleeting silhouette graceful and attentive,
Anticipating His needs,
The shadow grows, feeding off His desires; it does not Dominate although it appears so.
Flickering over its sun source,
He is the full light that diminishes me.
What hurts me, blesses me.
The darkness is my candle.
My boundaries are his to control.
I am illuminated through him,
just as I am snuffed by him;
I am the pattern displayed in service to him.
Artful movements, not gone unnoticed, silently drifting about, sometimes blending, while other times burning as the flame calls forth my attraction.
I am seen at dusk, and consumed by the bright light of day.
Who am I? I am the shape shifter; I am who he wishes me to be.
Without him I do not exist.
