MistressRebekkah -> New Domme needs help finding information (6/9/2007 11:59:43 AM)

I am new at exploring as MY Domme-ness.... I was looking for websites for two purposes currently... 1) Stories and essays portraying Domme/sub encounters and 2) Sites that include good information about CBT . Any assistance in these areas would be helpful.

I debated whether or not to reply because I frankly don't like most websites I've seen.

I'm far more likely to recommend buying or borrowing books (checking out authors before you do) and getting involved in some local community or nearby community if you can. Especially when I started out it was very important for me to do those two things. The meeting folks gave me flesh & blood people I could learn from; the books (written by people with experience and usually recommened highly to me) gave me time to think and references for later.

For stories, essays, articles, & helpful advice try GoddessClub.com

I recommend Hardy Haberman's book "The Family Jewels" for information about CBT. A book by a gay man about CBT.

For erotica, search "Femdom erotica" and other variants on Google. Here is one result of a femdom erotica search.

Yes, in keeping with Tammy Jo's post, as with anything, published books are usually more reputable than websites. And as Elorin wrote, Family Jewels is the best CBT book out there. Talking to people is good too. And in all cases, please critically evaluate your information!

The Frugal Domme is fairly good (frugaldomme.com). Honestly, I'm more impressed with the new BDSM blogosphere than with most essay websites. Blogs that might be helpful to you include Mistress Matisse's (mistressmatisse.blogspot.com) and Saratoga's (ondominance.blogspot.com). Lenora's blog (enchanted-palms.blogspot.com) is currently mostly original fiction, but she used to write more analytical posts, so you could search the blog archives for keywords. Bitchy Jones' Diary (bitchyjones.wordpress.com) might be to your taste, too.

I agree with tammyjo - find a local group and sit and talk to other Mistresses. Some of what they will say may resonate with You - some wont. But it is a good way to learn lots and understand the many sides of this lifestyle.

I have found several books worth a read:

The Mistress Manual
The Sexually Dominant Woman
Female Domination by Elise Sutton

These were excellent starters for me. It allowed me to really reflect on what I wanted and how to go about some things. I would also recommend doing your own search online. I have tons of websites, but you should find what is best for you. You could always try the Frugal Domme.

Sincerely,

Ayanaev

Some of my Domme/M. friends like Claudia Verrin who has a couple of good books out one being The Rituals of Female Dominance or something like that.  The Mistress Manual by M. Lorelei also seems well regarded.

There's a lot of free content on my site that describes femdom dynamics, offers real relationship advice and has a healthy dose of smut.  My "Good Girls Guide to Domination" has helped many couples.  You also may contact me on the other side if you have anything I might be able to help with.
