Why is it that so many people consider the word "love" a strong word?  Love can mean many things, and people can love different people in many different ways.  If love is a good thing... why is the word so... I dunno... feared, it seems?

It is one of the strongest human emotions, and a word I use with very few people.  Those that I do use it with know what it means to me to say it to them, because I let them know how I feel about them. With, and in more than just words.

Love is a strong word, with powerful connotations; it often comes with tremendous responsibility, as well, and sometimes people fear that. Or they fear rejection.

I think love is a strong word. The word "love" is a symbol for the most powerful energy filled emotions... yes even stronger than "hate". I do not use it begrudgingly. I am rather generous with that word. I love people, I love life, I love my Daddy, I love my UM, I love my mother... believe it or not I try to love everyone (I do not always succeed).

I do not think of love as an ego derived word, if I did I would bestow my love less often. If I thought I had a finite amount of love to give I might be more stingy with it, but I do not view love in this way... the more I love, the more I am capable of it...

Having lost someone that took part of my heart with him when I was very young (and I am not talking about a lover), I realized that the people that we feel love for are not with us forever, expressing it to them is not a luxury to me, it is a necessity.

Now there are all sorts of love in the world, I think the love that people often have trouble expressing to their beloved is of the romantic kind... and that is all about their ego being crushed, if they say it perhaps it will not be returned, or they put conditions upon it.. like their lover/spouse did this bad thing, so they will not be loving back...

Really love is a verb... it is the action, whether we are feeling it or demonstrating it. I do not feel it lessens the love I feel for anyone that I try to have the action of love in my life.

Cunt is a rather strong word.....Cunts come in different shapes and sizes...I have found that "on the whole" cunts are a rather pleasurable thing.....If cunts are a good thing....Why is the word so...I dunno.....feared, it seems?

I love the phrase 'love conquers all;' its a good idea as to hwo strong it can be and is. Its not so much an emotion or feeling as much as it is a state of being at times. Poets have tried to explain it and capture it and no one can truely do so, thats what makes it so ilusive and so powerfull. I don't think its so much feared as it is conplicated and simple at the same time. People die for love and peoplr kill for love. If something cannot be explained or understood, then it is feared by some.

I don't fear love, I do seek it out and embrace it in its many facets and ways of expression.

Hate is almost as strong an emotion as love.  Why is it hate is so easy used and love is not?

Why does love come with responsibilty?  I love my best friend but that doesn't give me any responsibility for her.  I'm not talking only about love for a significant other.

Are you not responsible for 1/2 of you and your friend's relationship? And 1/2 of the emotions, thoughts, and actions that make up that relationship?

Yes but how does this make love a strong word?  When a child grows up and moves on to live on their own, it is their responsibility to take care of themselves now.  But then why aren't the words "grow up" as strong as "love".

For many people, love is the highest thing they can aspire to in life. If you achieve it, or if you fail at it, is like climbing Mount Everest. A daunting prospect, and one that elicits powerful emotions.

Hence "strong".

Maybe I'm just not understanding your question.
