Understanding that this exercise really has no purpose besides fun, how would you break down the epidemiology of the BDSM community on Collarme.com:

Male Dom
Male Sub
Female Domme
Female Sub

Obviously, there are more categories than this, but let's leave it at a high level to keep things less complicated.

I'd say...
M/Dom: 20%
M/Sub: 40%
F/Domme: 10%
F/Sub: 30%

Hmmmm. Considering the definition of epidemiology is that of a  branch of medicine dealing with the incidence and prevalence of disease in large populations and with detection of the source and cause of epidemics of infectious disease then I would think that no matter what the break down is of Dom/me sub etc...I would hope that they would be honest about any communicable diseases. Or were you perhaps wondering who patient zero was in the break down of BDSM historically?

What the epistomology (a branch of philosophy that investigates the origin, nature, methods, and limits of human knowledge) might be rather interesting though. you may want to try a poll.

Edited because: Yes I'm being a sarcastic Bitch. Where the hell are my Oreos people??? Seriously...Chocolate would make me much nicer. Or I could have simply read Faramir's post and said ditto. Nah...I like being a bitch.

Why am I still waiting for chocolate?????

In regard to epidemiology, I must quote Indigo Montoya from The Princess Bride, "I do not think it means what you think it means."

Because the food is good, the atmosphere is excellent, they have a fine variety on the wine menu but  the submissives here are notorious for their slow service.

Yes, it seems that wine and cheese are to be found in abundance. Chocolate...not so much. Sigh. Just another reason for a beating.

Just curious in how you are using the word epidemiology in the sentence:

"how would you break down the epidemiology of the BDSM community on Collarme.com"

I'm not sure epidemiologies can be broken down.

earthycouple -> RE: BDSM Epidemiology (6/13/2007 4:04:54 PM)

Epidemiology
The study of the distribution of diseases in populations and of factors that influence the occurrence of disease. Epidemiology examines epidemic (excess) and endemic (always present) diseases; it is based on the observation that most diseases do not occur randomly, but are related to environmental and personal characteristics that vary by place, time, and subgroup of the population. The epidemiologist attempts to determine who is prone to a particular disease; where risk of the disease is highest; when the disease is most likely to occur and its trends over time; what exposure its victims have in common; how much the risk is increased through exposure; and how many cases of the disease could be avoided by eliminating the exposure.

Are you suggesting we are diseases?

Fair enough.  On the otherhand, you don't look especially Quakerish.  No hat.
