In reading profiles on collarme.com, I am finding that a lot of Dommes are advertising as "professional"....are there that many people that are "still" paying for BDSM when so many others are in and enjoying this lifestyle

Yes actually.. I think its idiotic that they are so many sub/slaves willing to pay also. There are so many of us Doms/Masters?owners who would be glad to take on slaves or subs with out charging.

Supply and demand.   There are tons of men out there for many reasons are best suited as clients to prodommes:  married men or men already in relationships, men who don't want relationships but want to play occasionally, men seeking specialty activities,  men who are very into the fantasy of the Dominatrix but don't want to deal with the mundane side of being in a relationship, etc, etc.

Not everyone is free and clear and willing to be in a relationship, even if they could find a lifestyle domme interested in them.

I like how MsSonnetMarwood put it when she said that "men don't want to deal with the mundane side of being in a relationship." I have never thought of it that way before. It makes sense.

I see your point, but it still baffels me that anyone pays when there are many more people involved in alternate lifestyle activity (not as taboo as 15 years ago), munches, play parties, Dungeons, and on-line sites to meet others....Oh well, if you need to pay to keep yourself distanced from a relationship......[X(]

How easy it is or isn't to find a compatible "other" for a relationship has been the subject of many many other threads - and not, I think, the reason why so many engage in BDSM activities with a prodomme.

I'd imagine it's also because they're under the impression that a "professional" will be... well, all the thing that the word implies: experienced, clean, efficient, attentive, and so forth. They're looking for a pack of experiences to be used for a particular need (or want), and they think that the most expedient way to get someone to fulfil that is a prodomme. Perhaps tehy're right, perhaps they're wrong, but I see it as something outside "the scene." It's like me being taken on a guided tour of Argentina; I'll have been there, but I won't really have an idea of what it's like to live there.
