>Somewhat embarassed?
The question was about boundaries, edge "play." Slight embarassment is another topic.

>I sense a lot of judgment
I sense disagreement and cirticism, that one should "first know thyself" -- Plato quoting Socratese. My perspective is that a person should have some awareness about why they engage in particular forms of behavior. I find it quite strange that you imply I am judgmental for encouraging another to be more self aware.

Thanks for all the responses!

I have a fairly good grasp of humiliation that does not cause emotional discomfort and is done as a gesture of the D/s dynamic. I call this humiliation D/s humiliation. In comparison, I have less insight about humiliation that does cause emotional discomfort. I call this humiliation SM humiliation.

I think emotional discomfort and SM humiliation occur when one sees their status to be lessened in eyes of self or of others. I agree that there is potential for mishaps with SM humiliation and my goal with my current research is to gain some insights about such mishaps and mitigating steps.

I intend to do an interactive seminar on humiliation. I wish to offer a picture that is broader than that I know from personal experience and not have it limited by the same. Thus, I turn to others to soak in their insights. I would love it if I can let people walk away with insights that were had by others through their experiences. I think I would do a service to seminar attendees if I can give them ideas for how to avoid or lessen impact of mishaps, which is what I hope to do by reading insights of others.

Again, thanks for all the comments so far.

Cheers,

Sea
