i'd really like to seek the counsel and experience of the submissives here.

When i kneel [kneeling at attention hands behind my back or in front of me] for exstended periods of time [over an hour] my knees start to hurt, even when i use kneepads the same thing happens after a period of time.

Is this normal? I'm not excessivly overweight or had knee problems in the past. Do any other subs experience this? Is there anything i can do to strengthen my knees and/or increase the amount of time i can kneel.

humbly,

It's universal. Talk to your dom about it. Most doms allow subs to have pillows to kneel on or allow the slave to ask permission to sit comfortably or "at rest" after a time.

There are several threads on the boards regarding kneeling with some good ideas for making kneeling more comfortable for an extended time. I am sure that if you do a search it will provide with you a few suggestions.

I'm not sure about "normal" people, but I can sure say that mine bother me after about 10 min. I had both of my knees crushed 2 years ago, I told my Master about it when we first met, and he is ok with the fact that I just cant possibly do it. I'm sure it does bother most people though.

There are also kneeling benches or stools that are made for those who wish to meditate but cannot kneel for long periods of time. That may be helpful as well. I'm thinking of getting one, since I have knee troubles too........which puts me in the same category as most submissives I know, so you are definitely not alone.

I have been learning some Gorean positions (i'm not into the Gorean lifestyle but Mistress likes a lot of the stuff from it so we kind of pick and choose) and I practice 'Nadu' a lot by myself. Every time I do it I can do it a little longer...but I have weak ankles, which always hurt after a while no matter how I am kneeling. Mistress understands this and lets me beg to be allowed to sit more comfortably, which so far She has never refused. My knees, however, have never been a problem when kneeling, 'Nadu' or otherwise.

I have arthritis in both knee's I find it impossible to kneel as its so damn painful. This is debillitating and also causes me anxiety as I would so love to be able to do this. Does anybody have any ideas...apart from losing weight which is my on going battle.

Yeah, and try not to kneel on uncooked rice. I've observed that it hurts.

An hour? Wow... wish it took me an hour to get uncomfortable. Not to minimize your problem - i'd like to be able to kneel longer too, but 10 or 15 minutes is probably my limit due to knee problems. Fortunately Master allows me to get comfortable relatively quickly since He knows about my knees.

This happens to be one of my personal cherished positions. Though I sympathize with the knee problem. My Master knows how very uncomfortable this can be, so a lovely pillow is my solution. One that is only used for that purpose " kneeling" which makes it all the more special................for Him and me.

i don't know how well this will work for anyone else, but i have had both leg and back problems (the back being worse, possibly permanent, i've spent time in a chair). Yoga done regularly (in my case about an hour a day) has helped me a great deal with both. This is especially true with kneeling, which can often be felt in the whole body. In the worst situation, i can now simply shift the weight from back to front or side to side to ease the strain. It also makes for a graceful rise out of the kneel because thigh and core muscles become stronger.

The half-lotus, lotus, and camel have all worked well to alleviate any pain while sitting "criss-cross applesauce" (well, :D, i am Indian and not many Indian women of whom i know do sit cross-legged, even during ritual).

i also tend to kneel with the backs of my feet flat to the floor. i have read that that blocks circulation, but i find it a lot easier. If i turn my ankles out a bit and my toes in my endurance is significantly better.

Hope that helps. :)

I don't have trouble with my knees while kneeling, however my feet do tend to fall asleep rather quickly, which makes my rising less than graceful at times. Often times he will allow me to kneel up or to sit comfortably if we are going to be in one place for a length of time...as in if we are watching others scene or watching a demo or something along those lines.

When we play, he moves me around enough that it isn't usually a problem, unless I'm kneeling for long periods of time doing certain activities while wearing six inch heels. Unless kneeling up, the shoes simply don't have enough give to kneel properly and my feet fall asleep almost instantly.

best regards,
f
