Are like half the size of their mother and still nursing at times. Talk about a submissive cat. I try and drop pillows on them to break up the boob fest, works until she lays back down again and they're jumping back on her

Not having mothered kittens, is there something wrong with continuing to feed? I have a vague idea out there that both the mom and the kittens will stop when it's appropriate for them. Cats have been mothering kittens without pillows thrown at them for a long time, so what's with the interference?

I have 5 cats in the house and more out in the barn. I've seen some of my mamma cats nursing half grown cats along with her newborns, and loving every minute of it! Dont worry she'll get tired of it and start hissing at them every time they come near her. And the poor babies are so confused and lost without their mamma, but they get over it quickly! But, LOL guard your curtains! They usually take it out on them first!

Let the kittens nurse as long as mom will allow it. It wont' harm them or mom. 's what happens in nature.

When mom's sick of it, she'll chase them off.

Also, if you haven't gotten them spayed/neutered yet, DO! They -can- and -will- get each other pregnant as soon as they come into heat, which can happen as early as 6mo and can be invivisble, especially in young kitties.

hehehehe, i've a bit of a sadistic streak in me. Watching them jump a mile as the pillow lands is always good for a laugh. i know i'm terrible. i know the mama is getting abit tired of it. Just trying to help her along (heh with my own motives too of course) If you all think its perfectly okay for it to continue, heck as long as they dont do it around me (like when i'm trying to fall asleep and theres this slurp slurp slurp) i'll ignore it.

As for the curtians, usually during the day i tend to toss em outside to destroy the garage, with indoor breaks. They've grown to love it and wait every morning for their outside time. The nice thing is, their mama keeps a close eye on them.

As for knocking each other up. <grins> i've two boys and a girl, so you can imagine the trouble they'd get into. i actually had a brother and sister i rescued as small kittens (from the local police animal shelter, that YES i did help open up an investigation on.... hehehehe.. anyone hear the news about the Miami Dade police animal shelter about a year or two ago?) Thats a great topic to start rambling on! But anyways, i noticed my two kittens getting alittle "friendly" with each other so off to the vet they were. So i'm well aware of their lack of "requirements" when it comes to finding a partner.
