For some people a cage represents security, for others it brings up claustrophobia issues. If you have a tendency to be claustrophobic, it might not be for you. A nice warmly padded pet cage can feel wonderfully protective, like an extension of your Master. Take away the rugs and your clothes, and it might be a punishment. But whatever you do, think about the safety issues. You must have some sort of Out in an emergency. Fires happen. Burglars happen. Don't let it happen to you. My Master uses psychological keys rather than physical ones. The door is shut firmly and he tells me not to come out on pain of his Displeasure. It's as effective for me as a huge padlock, but if the huge padlock is important, then look into the ones that have some sort of fail safe.

Trained a dog once to go into his cage when he was bad.  The difficult thing to teach him to do was to close the door after himself.

He would stay in there until I told him he was free, at which point he would jump out and go do his dog thing.

I really like the idea of a cage. Though, i'm not sure if I would want it to be for safety or punishment. Both interest me really and I must admit when I was younger I used to pretend I was trapt in a cage with no escape..helpless. >_> I kinda like that idea.

I have never tried staying in a cage or anything like that. Sometimes whenever I see a cage, I think it's very cruel for a Dom or Master to put a sub/slave in it but after reading all what you have said, I have changed my mind.

I think I would like to try the cages out, I think I can bear staying in one place, or in a small space, for safety/pleasure but for punishment, I am not quite sure. I know for one fact that I won't like to stay in a cage where there are no lights, I would definitely panic. Someone has thrown me in a big rubbish bin and closed the lid, just for a laugh (part of a prank) and pushed the bin around. That scared me very much, I was screaming and panicking, and nearly crying. As soon as the lid went off, I went for my so called friend and hit his chest, telling him to not ever do it to me ever again.

So that could be why I was not sure about the cages! *smile* but I am coming around to the idea of having a cage...mmmm

I have never been in a cage for punishment, nor have I ever been in a pet cage. But I have spent quite a bit of time in cages built especially for BDSM. I used to work for a gentleman who built Dungeon furniture for a living. He would travel around the area to fetish parties, allowing his work to be used as the equipment for play parties and the like, since getting his stuff seen and used by the general public is generally the best advertisement you can get! A big part of my job was helping set up the equipment before events, watching to be sure no one used it incorrectly, then helping break it down afterwards. Alot of times, that meant not getting a whole lot of sleep the night before a party. Many nights, I would crawl into one of his cages (big enough to lay down in and stretch out) and curl up and go to sleep. I know there was nothing between me and the rest of the party but steel bars, but somehow I felt isolated enough to relax, feel safe, and sleep. To me, going inside that cage, no matter where we were in the country that night, and how many hundred of people were milling around. I had my own "space" to go to get away from it all.  I don;t know how I would feel about being sent to one for punishment, and both of the cages he built were big enough to not feel cramped..one you could lay flat in, and if you were short enough (like me) you could even sit up, and another was a standing cage...could actually sit cross legged on the floor..but meant for standing up in. To me I feel safe in a cage, comfortable, like I have something of my "own" space, a place to retreat to and contemplate the day.

Lately I am wondering about being caged like a dog.

Master even suggests that I choose my own cage. But I wonder if fantasy is nicer than reality. How does it feel to be caged, how long can you be caged without phyiscal damage, what size should the cage be, can i sleep in it, is it only used for punishment or do you feel safe in it.

I would like to hear experiences and advice from others.

Thank you.

If it's something that you might enjoy, the only way to find out is to try it.  Some fantasies are never meant to be lived out, specially the ones that are dangerous to our health.

First you have determine what size cage you are going to be kept in.  If the cage is too small to stretch out in, you may experience muscle spasms from body constriction for long periods of time.  If the cage is large-enough to be able to walk around, then it is simply like a jail cell.

Are you claustrophobic?  If you are, then this is not for you.

I used to breed dogs with my ex-wife as a business enterprise, and we would regularly put our dogs in cages.  The cages would vary from the 4' x 6' chain link variety to a small dog carrier similar to those used to transport animals by air.

Sometimes we would put the dogs in cages just because they were a nuisance, or because they were just doing what dogs normally do.  From what I understand about animal behavior, as opposed to human behavior, is that animals unlike humans do not have a sense of self, and thus they only live in the moment.  Behaviorists do not believe that animals wonder if there is a God, and whether they will go to heaven or not; and if one is inclinced to believe in this theory, worrying about how long they will be imprisoned is not an issue.  It's only that they are not happy, but will eventually accept their imprisonment because humans are the "top dog" in the heirarachy, and thusly will dictate the terms of their life.

If you are considering being locked in a cage, please heed this warning:  You MUST absolutely have trust in the person who holds the key to your release.  That person must NEVER leave you locked in any form of restraint and then leave the premises, as this can be a recipe for disaster.
