i have heard this term many times; specifically when discussing the training or owning of a strong- willed submissive. i don't particularly like or understand the term nor do i see how breaking ones spirit would make for a satisfying sub.

any thoughts would be great!

I dont break their spirit...I break them in.
It seems senseless to Me to break someones spirit.

The other side of that is there are people who want/need to be "broken" to
actually feel whole. There are people out there that can help with that.

Whats works for one doesnt work for everyone.

As for the psychological aspects of “breaking” someone, one need look little further than literature; the Bard himself penned a play on the subject, “Taming the Shrew.”  The idea of “breaking” is well played out in literature.  It is not always psychological; it is not always physical, or even spiritual.  Sometimes it is all three.  To be broken can have as many meanings as the people who seek to break, who seek to be broken.  I don’t think there is one right answer.  The Bard’s poetic tale of endearment and strong willed witticisms touches on the subject quite well.

I think that holds true for most things, there is
rarely One right answer...just lots of ways that work for different people.
