Hi all. I'm an uncollared subbie and presently living (totally by choice) in very rural Portugal. As a result I'm spending a lot of time on both work and social (vanilla) chat sites although I am practising my Portuguese language via CD's and lessons!

Sometimes however I find the vanilla chatter and nonsense overwhelming and just need to come back to c.chat for a while to remind myself of the 'real' world for a while. Despite being totally out of the physical scene it is huge comfort to connect (even as a reader!) to a lifestyle that I know, love and feel secure in.

Not necessarily looking for advice, just understanding.

No fucking sympathy from me you "bitch"...living in rural Portugal?  I am SO totally jealous!  That is one of the places I truly lust after as a place to go.  How is it, tell us about the food, the tastes and smells!

I live in rural texas, and it is very hard for me to have time to drive into lifestyle oriented real world events...so I totally understand where you are coming from!

I wouldn't trade my country life for anything...but thank gods for the internet!

Hmmm. Coming here to get grounded, as in collarme? Interesting.

Certainly glad something gets you grounded. It must be amazing to immerse yourself in a totally different world like that. I'd have to have something to bring me back as well. I just don't know if it's this place

Lisbon, Porto? They can't be that far from you.

I'd use whatever I could that would keep me grounded! Grounded is just a good space to be.

Good luck to you! I'm doing the same thing... living in small-town Norway... not really THAT small but compared to what I'm used to... anyway... CM really helps me stay grounded too.

im travelling around a bit at the moment, my friends who would understand, are thousands of miles away right now. Email is a god send also. And collarme, is a very poor substitute for real life, but yes, grounded is a good word. Sometimes it feels like a favourite club, at others a vipers nest. Just like real life lol.
You are very welcome. Take the weight off, relax. I can feed some of my need by being here too.

Interacting with like-minded people can keep a special part of your psyche alive.  And this place is really educational, too.

So.... tell us about Portugal - what's it like there?  Apart from the lack of action.

I completely understand, sarah.

I came to CM after a year plus of no longer having a very close local community. This place does not (and can not in my opinion) replace a meatlife community but it is at least a place to learn and share and talk about things that some of my vanilla friends might not understand.

Though my vanilla friends are a very intelligent, open-minded, and cool bunch of people. Far more accepting of my owning Fox as a slave than some folks in the kink community were.
