I’ve just finished re-reading the first six books and now I’m counting down the days. I’ve already got a good bottle of wine picked out and have told friends and family that I am not to be bothered on that weekend.

I’m I the only one here who plans to be a recluse when book seven arrives?

I’m also interested in hearing any other’s theories about what will happen in book seven.

For myself, I believe there will come a crucial moment when Harry has to set aside his hatred of Snape and trust Dumbledore’s judgment by trusting Snape. In other words, Snape is still working for the Order even if no one knows or believes it. That his seeming betrayal of Dumbledore was, in fact, part of an already laid out plan – that Dumbledore wasn’t pleading with Snape not to kill him, but in fact to kill him, in order to set certain events into motion.

Whatever the outcome, it will be interesting.

Nope....I will be too.

*SPOILER WARNING-DO NOT READ UNLESS YOU'VE READ ALL 6 HARRY POTTER BOOKS*

OK, I think it's obvious now that Snape is a Death Eater. Although I like your idea Marc. If you haven't already, go buy the books Fantasic Beasts And Where To Find Them and Quidditch Through The Ages by Newt Scamander and Kentworthy Wisp. All proceeds go to help the Comic Relief Charity in London. They raise money for other charities like The Red Cross and have raised over 250,000,000 since they began in 1985. Also, the fan-written books The Ultimate Unofficial Guide To The Mysteries Of Harry Potter and The Plot Thickens....Harry Potter Investigated By Fans For Fans by WWP (Wizarding World Press). Wonderful books....they really go in-depth exploring Harry Potter. As I was reading them, I actually have to go back and see what I missed. For example, have you ever noticed how many times J.K Rowling. mentions eyes, ears, noses, and fingers? Or the number 12? Or "long fingers?" Trust me, for all 4 books you'll spend about $60....but it's SO worth it! They mention a lot, like Hermione's almost always right, except when she gets emotional. Or that Ron's almost always wrong, except when he makes a joke about it. I could post pages, but, well....I think you get the idea.

Forgot to mention, you can find all of the above at your local bookstore (especially Barnes And Noble).

So who's already seen all 4 HP movies? Who's going to see Harry Potter and the Order of the Phonenix? I own all 4 and I'm waiting for HP and the OotP to come out on DVD. It looks awesome-I saw the trailer.

I got a new HP resource today. It's called What Will Happen In Harry Potter 7?MuggleNet published it. They discuss all 6 of the previous books....and there's a whole section devoted to 'Who Is R.A.B.?' I haven't read it yet, because Mom says I have to "earn it". Sigh....

Like I said before I don't think Cedric is dead...I read someone that in this book two main characters die (whether it counts Voldemort I dunno) and one gets "a reprieve."

She said that two characters died which she did not expect to die, and one got a reprieve. That does not mean that only two die, it means that two additional ones die, and one she planned on killing stays alive.
I am sure Cedric is dead for good. She even stated somewhere that "dead is dead".

As for the movies? I see them as expensiv fanfic, nothing more. At least they realised that having the writing on Harrys hand read "I will not break rules" was a BIG error and changed it back to "I will not tell lies".

[quote] LOL......love Futurama.

My favorite line from Futurama:

Stoned Hippie: "you can’t own the land, man."
Professor Farnsworth: "Well, I can. But that’s because I’m not a penniless hippie like you."

quote:

I think he will end up dead.

J.K. has certainly given us plenty of reason to dislike Percy (perhaps to soften the blow?) But if he must die I’m still hoping for a last minute "wake up call," and a heroic sacrifice to save his family. Considering Percy’s ambitions, he probably should have been in Slytherin, but the sorting hat did put him in Gyffandor.

What I wonder about is...if Neville is a poor wizard, could it be because he was usuing a wand that wasn't his?

I’ve wondered about that myself. We don’t hear that the Longbottom family is poor, but then again maybe the bills at St. Mungos are piling up (does the wizarding world have health insurence?).

I have that book. It changed my entire perspective on Snape. It's a good read.

I hope that all the little snippets and "secrets" JKR has released have all been made up and don't really happen.  It would be a great way to end the series.

How wonderful to know that having HP movie marathons at home, and re reading the books in anticipation of the new releases doesn't make me the weirdo i thought it did.  At least not a lone weirdo

I agree wholeheartedly with the OP  regarding Snapes killing of Dumbledore.  Albus knew he was dying slowly (remember his withered arm) and decided that the best way to maintain Snapes cover was to hasten his imminent death by directing Snape to "kill" him.

It's also quite possible to me that Snape could end up giving his own life because he discovers he is the  horicrux, thereby finally surpassing James and Lily's notoriety.  I do agree that his hatred of James, and in turn Harry, could be a result of a crush on Lily.

Either way we're all aware that Jk Rowling has no compunctions about killing off well loved characters.   I'm trying not to speculate too hard on who will or won't live, even though it's great fun to try and foresee from past clues, but concentrate more on the fact that any character that I'm fond of is fair game and could die.  As much as i love happy endings, they don't always happen.

I think Neville will continue to rise to greater challenges and will in some way avenge his parents.

As others have said, Dumbledore won't be coming back in any way other than his portrait in the Heads office.   (although it would be cool if that were also the case with his likeness in the chocolate frog cards).

Percy may be one of those characters who sees the error of his ways and dies trying to "do the right thing",  you never know.

I did read one of the "spoiler" rumors and hope they are untrue, but i'm prepared for the inconceivable.  At the same time, i wonder if JKR wants to risk her beloved status by killing off our much beleagured young heroes and heroines.

When HP first came out, i avoided it entirely due to it's almost instant  popularity  and market saturation.  I saw  the first movie on DVD  by which time the second was being released in theaters.  I was hooked, i bought the then 4 book set for my youngest for Christmas  (all of which i read over a long weekend...before wrapping them).   the appeal is really universal in regard to age, much like many other favorites, in that there is a smattering of adult humor and more sophisticated sarcasm that sails effortlessly over the heads of the young ones.  Not to mention the fact that the "magical world" that JKR has portrayed is just too cool not to appeal to whats left of  the "inner child" within us. (or at least me)

I better re read HBP.....it's been a while...

The following is an excerpt from my blog on 360... but I thought a few on here might apprecaite it or it might get a few people thinking...

quote:

The 'prophecy' from book 5 -
"The one wth the power to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches. . . . Born to those who have thrice defied him, born as the seventh month dies . . . and the Dark Lord will mark him as his equal, but he will have power the Dark Lord knows not . . . and either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the survives. . . . The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord will be born as the seventh month dies. . . ." (excerpt from Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix).  The interesting things about the prophecy is that Lord Voldemort actually CHOOSE Harry to be his enemy.. ...

I have noticed a HUGE similarity between Harry Potter and Lord Voledmort and Hitler; yes, I'm serious, as well as Good verses evil acording to the Bible [God verses Satan]. Most people have made the corolation of Harry Potter and Lord Voldemort to the Bible; yet, I have seen fewer people, see how much like Hitler, Lord Voldemort is......

Does anyone else see the similarities between Hitler and Lord Voldemort?

Does anyone else see similarities between Adolf Hitler and Lord Voldemort?

Are you kidding me?!

  • They both love the idea of "one race and one race only" ruling all (Purebloods and Aryans).
  • They are both the leaders of their organizations (the Nazis and the Death Eaters).
  • They both have followers who rally to them in fear and because they like what they hear.
  • They're both crazy.
  • They both don't mind killing-rather, they seem to enjoy it.
  • They both were eventually defeated (I'm assuming Voldie will be).
  • They both need mental help and serious therapy.
  • They both need to take a chill pill and get laid (lol).

Anything else I forgot?

Just thought you'd be interested to know that my copy of "The Plot Thickens....Harry Potter Investigated By Fans For Fans,"
arrived from Amazon the other day.  I'm finding it a quite enjoyable read although I was a little disappointed that it only covers up to book five.  On the other hand, it is kind of fun to see what theories they had about book six that the got wrong.  Thanks for the recomendation.

This one is going to be the first release of Harry Potter where I am not working at the bookstore. Jeez I miss it. Hugely. I loved loved the throngs of people lined up with their arms loaded with all things HP.
Talking to the kids and taking pics of them all dressed up.
It feels really weird to not be involved with it all, almost to the point where I don't want my reserved book. Waaaaaaaaah I want to be working on HP day!

While J.K Rowling says "dead is dead", I do not believe Dumbledore actually died. I believe it was all an elaborate ruse. Dumbledore told Draco, "He (Voldemort) cannot kill you if you are already dead. Come over to the right side and we can hide you more completely than you can possibly imagine. No one would be surprised if you died in your attempt to kill me." Now if he could do that convincingly for Draco, why not for himself? He could make himself seem dead to the wizarding world but actually be hidden so completely that everyone thought him dead, including Harry.Snape had to be the one to "kill" him so that the story seemed plausible, and kept him from actually being killed by the others.
As for Love interests...I don't think it will be Harry and Ginny. I think it will be Luna Lovegood who ends up being Harry's girl. She's suffered death as Harry has, and like him is often considered an outsider.
Who dies....? I think Hagrid and Voldemort will die. There are simply too many reasons for Harry not to. For one thing...the Harry Potter "theme park". Who wants to go to a park based on the book where the lead character is dead at the end? Plus...I think it would kill the sales of the last two movies, and the continuing sales of all the other Harry Potter books to future readers. I think that there will still be unanswered questions, things not neatly tied up at the end, but I can't see Harry dying.
As for this last movie...just saw it...LOTS of things left out of Book 5....nothing about Quidditch, no showing of Neville at the hospital, you never see Hermione and Ron as prefects, etc. If I hadn't just finished rereading the book, I think some of the finer points about why things were happening would have flown right past me. But I will say...I think the casting for Luna was dead on! I'm going to be one of the ones in the line at midnight buying the last book. I probably won't go to bed after that...because I will HAVE to start it right away.
