I would think that the disease aspect is inevitable. I don't think the rapist is going to be kind enough to slip on a jimmy cap. That brings us to the real question... you wanna make the prick suffer?

Unfortunately, the woman has already been penetrated and violated anyway. All this will do is piss off the rapist, and he might just kill her in a fit of rage.

I completely agree, and I know what I'm talking about. Sounds fine, except the damage has been done anyway. Most rape victims are too concerned with surviving to care about fighting back at that point. Remember - rape isn't about sex, its about power.

Having said that, sounds fantastic..

That was my first thought: it isn't preventing rape, but it makes it a lot less pleasant for the rapist. Hopefully, the pain is enough of a shock that it slows the guy down.

Not all rapists start with penile penetration, and vaginas aren't the only target of sexual assaults (nor are adult women, for that matter). I'd guess rapists in ZA will just start poking something else in first to see if the device is in place.

that was the first thing that popped into my head on seeing this thread. rape is about violence, not sex:

"Mitchell is also concerned that the device might lead to further violence against victims.
"Once the rapist realises this device is attached to him, he is more than likely to take his anger out on his victim."

ZenrageTheKeeper -> RE: Rape Prevention Device (1/18/2006 3:29:53 PM)

It should come with an a beeping device that sounds off when it clamps down. That way police will be able to recognize it even if the rapist is wearing pants and wont pull them down without a court order.

MadelineSerenity -> RE: Rape Prevention Device (1/18/2006 7:54:04 PM)

a pretty nasty device that will do just that - google 'rapex'

unfortunately i can think of alot of cases where that would cause more harm - possibly getting the victom hurt more by the enraged attacker, and the cases where the guy was innocent O.o
