People love to bitch about how bad politicians are, curious what people do about it.

Please pick all options that apply.

I'm a serious voter, and it annoys me when  people openly bitch and also tell me they never vote or engage in the process.  I have a cousin like that.  I keep telling him voting is more than just for president, it's your school board, mayor, etc. where one vote can really mean a difference.

Okay, off my soap box!!

Mike,
I qualified for all the the options except for organizing a campaign staff. The last 3 options seemed to be redundant, but since I've done that for more than one campaign/candidate I picked them too.

The passing of the last batch of "campaign reform" laws ended the possibility that any "regular" person would ever come to national or local prominence and win election to major office. It insured that that from now on there will be a 'political class' in the US made up of extremely wealthy individuals. Limits placed upon individual contributors require that you have a large personal war-chest of funds prior to considering any political office.

Adding to the problem are polarizing special interest groups who effect the campaigns by running 'public service' ads that favor one candidate or the other. Both sides use them, but only public served by this 'soft money' is the 'political class'. It should be no surprise after the election, that those 'special interest' groups are at the head of the line receiving benefits from the elected official.

No political party or individual is immune to these political 'facts of life'.
