Gauge -> BBQ Ribs! (6/22/2007 5:10:48 PM)

Could there ever be a more perfect food than pork ribs? I mean the smoky, tangy flavor of tender juicy ribs that have dynamite BBQ sauce on them.

I am making ribs right now and I have to tell you that my next door neighbor knocked on my door and asked me what I was cooking because it smells sooooooooo good.

My style of ribs includes a boiling process before actual roasting or grilling. In the water I use 3 or 4 whole cloves of garlic, salt, pepper, and Old Bay Seasoning. I boil them for about 30 minutes and then place them in the oven to finish them, adding the BBQ sauce in the last 10 minutes of cooking.

Ribs are God's (or insert you deity of choice) way of telling us that He loves us.

not bad. if we didn't boil them first with a handful of seasonings we marinate them with vinegar onions bell peppers, black pepper garlic and season salt over night or atleast through the morning to cook in the afternoon.  Then slap them on the grill charcol not propane btw. By then the gril is nice and ready after cooking up a mess of chicken burgers and hot links.  Barbecue sauce is cooked on the stove with mustard, garlic, hot sauce(insert fave brand) various seasonings and onions. ribs are cooked tilt he meat is falling off and then EVERYTHING gets dipped in the barbecue.

Usually talking about 6-10 lbs of meat maybe half will get eaten on that particular holiday when everyone is over. What doesn't get taken home with everyone else usually lasts a week or so

My Dom swears by the broiler method.  No soaking or fancy stuff required.  Broil 20 minutes per side until done, sauce towards the end.

My favorite sauce is a spicy Bone Suckin' Sauce.  I fear no spicyness.  Though I cry once in a while and make sputtering noises.

I hate BBQ sauce.

I don't boil OR grill ribs -- I have a smoker, I'll marinate them for 3 days in red wine vinaigrette, then smoke them low and slow (6-8 hours at 250), sometimes applying a dryp rub ans sometimes sauce, depending on the audience.  I have to use care in lifting them off the grate or the bones come right out.

several racks of beef or pork ribs, seasoned with a simple salt and pepper sprinkling, setting over a 20 lb turkey. then slowly smoked with fresh apple and hickory wood. bout 6 to 8 hours, a perfectly finished juicy turkey with ribs for all.

The best ribs I ever had came out of Southwestern Virginia. A marine buddy of mine lived there.....and we used to visit his home town quite often while stationed at Cherry Point. That was a good twenty years ago......But I still remember that sweet, smokey taste where the meat just fell off the bone.

The very best.[:)].....I boil them in beer, and the cheaper more rotgut beer the better!  Mix it equal parts with water, salt, pepper & garlic.  The beer gives them a flavor to die for!
