The NBA draft is coming up, and the Portland Trail Blazers have the first pick. It's a consensus that either 7'-0" center Greg Oden, and 6'-10" forward Kevin Durant, will be the numbers 1 and 2 picks.

Oden: As a freshman last season, Oden averaged 15.7 points, 9.6 rebounds and led the Buckeyes (35-4) to Big Ten regular-season and tournament titles despite recovering from right wrist surgery. He finished with 25 points and 12 rebounds as Ohio State lost to Florida in the NCAA title game.

Durant: Turns 19 on Sept. 29, is the only freshman to be the consensus NCAA player of the year. He averaged 25.8 points and 11.8 rebounds. He had 37 points, 10 rebounds, six assists and six blocks in an 88-84 overtime defeat to Kansas.

Hmmm... you didn't actually ask a question... so... is it safe to assume that you want to know which one we'd prefer for the first pick?

Awwwwww shit LOL, I didn't notice the lack of question. But  yes, you're correct.

Hey Level,

Well, I am sure you have no doubt as to how I voted in this major election (lol)...I think Durant will be a great NBA player with a long career ahead of him.  We will miss him terribly in Austin, but wish him well!

[:D] fairer,

Well, I picked Oden, not because I think he's the better player, but I can't see Portland bypassing him. We'll see Thursday night.

Greetings,

As tough as this choice is and you will most likely never end in the second guessing. I would have to take Oden, he is a once every ten to fifteen years kinda guy. Durant is a magical player the physical gifts the likes of Duncan and the work ethic of Jordan, but he is not a once every so often player and I would have to hope to get another chance at someone close to him some time down the road. look at the great teams, they always have that protector of the Krylon.

Again, I'm glad I don't amlke this choice, what an interesting year this is, lotsa great kids coming out, if the NBA does this right and they market themselves they can recapture fans and popularity that has disappeared since the Bulls fall from grace. What I'd give for a Laker/ Celtic type rivalry again, sprinkle in a Doc J, an Oscar Robinson and a Walt Fraizer from time to time. Ahhhhh,  Those were the days my friends.

I agree about the need for some great rivalries, Bull. Celtics, Lakers, Pistons, Bulls, 76ers.... Bird, Magic, Jordan, Lambeer, Dr J...... great games and teams.

You never sat back, you never went pee, you just had to be there so to never miss the next great rip roarin' play.....I hated the Celtics, but they played basketball like they were Gods. The old time Lakers, Wilt, Jerry, Gail Goodrich and company, The leprecons(SP) Dave Cowen, John Havlochek(SP)....wow the memories of those games. They were battles from the tip. Those were great teams, I think the Spurs and Pistons Could have been like that with better marketing by the league.

Sorry, I'm dating myself a bit,

Bull

Greetings Master - nice to see you posting over here.

The two teams that I loved to see play were the Lakers and the Pistons - both the 88 and 89 series.  In 88, Detroit still had Arian Dantley and the Pistons were up 3 games to 2, ahead by 6 with something like 28 seconds to go.  They were going to win it and it was going to be great until James Worthy went on a shooting spree (correct me if I am wrong and it was Magic, but I remember it as being Worthy).  The Pistons were numb after the loss and dropped the seventh game as well.

The next year, same two teams in the championship and this time it was Isaah who took over and won it for Detroit.  Those were great games, great series.

well wishes ~ fairer
