ORIGINAL: Obsidiansnamaste What perceptions of TPE cause the distaste, fear or disbelief that seems to be so prevalent? TPE is a much more pronounced form of D/s. The Doms are called to be more Dominant, the subs more submissive. And, if my time on this board's taught me anything, there's something of a penis-envy thing going on about who's more Dominant or submissive. Such as, I can honestly make this statement: "I am a Master. I control my slave, as opposed to guiding her. I am more dominant than a Dom who simply guides his sub." I can assure you, in even saying that, for the sake of example, I've angered a couple of readers, should at least so many read this. "You're saying you're more Dominant than me?!" While it's obvious, it's to be ignored, as, apparently, Dominance is the basis of legitimacy for one of the Dominant end of the spectrum, and to claim to be more Dominant than another is to delegitmize the basis of value of their opinions, and, consquently, identity. Or, rather, in more simplistic terms.. TPE means more Dominant/submissive. People dislike the notion that they're not the epitome of Dominance/submission and take offense to the obvious implication. Also, TPE can take fire for the same reasons D/s takes fire from the vanilla world: disgust for such a dynamic on the basis that such Dominants must be sick and such submissives must be spineless, as AquaticSub was kind enough to bletch out in the response above this. quote:
ORIGINAL: AquaticSub That all owners are abusive fucks and all subs/slaves are spineless twits with stockholme sydrome? At least that is the one that pisses me off the most. And, perhaps, at some primal level, it's scary. Who knows? Still, for the most of the question, in context, I think that people in this world equate Dominance/submission with value as an individual in this life, and such individuals consquentially find themselves demeaned, and thusly offended, by those who live by TPE.
