i am going tandem skydiving for the first time tomorrow.  Anyone have any words of wisdom or helpful pointers?

I did an AFF level 1 a month ago! (For Marie Curie. Dunno why she wanted somebody to go skydiving.. but hey!)

You'll probably have a wicked time - tandems are very fun, and fairly stress free as long as you put absolute faith in the total wanker whose legs you're dangling between. (This should present no problem for most subbies [8D])

Don't worry. Relax. The whole thing feels surprisingly safe.

I say this - I forgot to pull the cord for my chute (this won't be a problem for you!), and had to have it pulled for me, by one of the TWO guys holding onto me.

These people know what they're doing up there. Enjoy the view, and the rush :)

put you knees in the breeze, your ass in the blast and enjoy the rush, the ride and the view....oh, don't look down....[:D]

Thanks.  i'm so excited i can't hardly stand it.  But today the fear has started to creep in too.  i suppose it would be too much to hope that the instructor is single, older AND a Master! :P

rofl... now how am i supposed to this without looking down?

Angelic,
Just make sure your knees are not locked when you touch down. Have a blast!

lol.....actually I was teasin' .....you do observe the horizon upon landing in most cases, it keeps you from anticipating the landing, however I have never done the tandem thing so you better do what your very well rehearsed instructors says to do.....Be careful though, after tomorrow you will have a new addiction, the adrenaline(spck) rush is awesome.

When I lived in Cali I completed the whole AFF program and became licensed. A tandem jump is the gateway to keep jumping.

The first 50 seconds will be a truly unforgettable. And depending upon what type of plane you jump out of will add to the first time fear factor.

The larger, quieter '' Sky King'' with the large door and many other sky divers jumping, versus the smaller, noisier Cessna, where the instructor grabs the support bar off the wing and ''lets go'', makes for a much different lead-up.

It will be tons of fun.....and like others have mentioned, make sure you capture your experience on digital video.

Make sure your insurance is paid up.  And that there's no skydiving clause.

J/k....I've always wanted to try it, but never had the nerve!  Have an awesome time! [:)]

So how was it angelic? Was that a birthday gift? My older daughter took my younger daughter as a birthday gift to her.  She is the quiet shy one who never tries new things and she loved it!!

What I don't understand is why on earth anybody would want to jump out of a perfectly good airplane...
