I'd state that another way: if you DON'T have enough money for a competent defense, you're liable to be convicted of a crime you didn't commit. We agree that there's injustice in the justice system, but I think we see the problem from opposite ends. I'm not sure I want to get into the O.J. argument, but the State's case against him was crappy. That doesn't mean he was innocent; it means that the prosecution didn't present strong enough evidence for a guilty verdict. Of course O.J. would have been convicted--on crappy and tainted evidence--if he didn't have some of the best lawyers that money could buy. Lam
