Pass it on!

i had to hot-wire my riding mower today (no, i didn't lose the keys, i fried the starter relay). That was after i had to borrow 30 feet of chain from our "playroom" to pull down a dead tree.

Ever feel like you've somehow wandered out of "real life" and into a bad stand-up comedy routine?

I love doing yard work but not in the sweltering heat and only when I can be left alone- I hate people telling me how to do things~ sounds like you had a rough day....time for a new lawn mower, eh? ever try to mow a lawn the old fashioned way?

i know what you mean. i was digging up crab grass out of the flower beds today. nothing will kill that stuff, and getting to do it in 95 degree weather. god you gotta love FL.

We use to have a garden growing up and I wish I had a yard to do that again...I don't mind it so long as the humidity isn't so bad but living in Florida I guess all you get is humidity lol

all i have is garden..hehe.. i have basically completely redone my yard since i moved back home last year. i really do love working out in it most days, but the weeding. i truly do detest. you are right though. by this time of year we are hitting a minium of 80% humidity and a high in the low 90's. so it basically feels like you are wrapped up in wet cotton..hehe..

such a lovely feeling. gotta love it.

we had regular lawnmowers but my parents liked to use yard work as a punishment so they would teach us a lesson and get their yard done at the same time.

I love mowing grass.... the sound, the smell, the neatness after all is done.

Aww, why did you bother using lawn mowers when you had dinosaurs? You could have just found a nice herbivore and ridden him around like Fred Flinstone!

High of 96 degrees, 90% humidity yesterday. The only consolation was that i was removing the tree to clear the way for the above-ground pool we ordered And the fact that i didn't drop it on myself or the house was pretty sweet.

it's such a sense of accomplishment to see your yard look beautiful after you complete it....At my job, I tend to the floral department even when I am not scheduled to work there because the young kids at night are so lazy they won't even water the plants...they get all dried up and die...so i care for them

I mowed with a push mower for the last 40 yrs.  We are on 6 acres and mow about 2 acres.  Now that I am having hip problems it just got to be too much for me, so we went out and bought a riding mower. The problem was with a bad hip it is very hard to get on and sit on most riding mowers.  We ended up getting a Toro zero radius mower with hand controls so you don't have to stradle anythng. I love it and it's so much fun to drive, i'm a happy camper again!! It took about 1.5 hrs to do what used to take me 6 hrs. I'll miss the exercise but it will leave more time for golf.  Now we're shopping for a golf cart.

This is why we have concrete. You people really need to realise the wonderment that is hard paving. When I get a house with a garden I’m going to concrete it over and paint it green. It will have all the aesthetic elements of a garden but with the advantage of somewhere to park my car.

You wanna know what sucks? I'll tell you...

I was laying down black material (I can't remember what it's called, but it's supposed to keep weeds from popping up) and moving stuff out of the way. One bag a peat that I moved had a bizillion creepycrawlies under it . One (an earwig) started crawling on my sandal . So I sprayed it (which was ineffective 'cause the spray was for mosquitoes... ). Then, I felt like things were crawling on me. Understandable, given the circumstances. BUT. I felt a pinch & burn on my waist. I go to look. FUCKING EARWIG IS ON THE INSIDE OF MY SHORTS!!! Not only that, but the little fucker got caught on the elastic of my undies (I was wearing the kind where there is only a thin piece of elastic going around the hips). I had to pick it out. Then I had to pick it's pincher out of my side. THEN I have to go wash my whole freaken body 'cause I have the willies sooooooooooo baaaaaaaaaaaaaad. And the mosquito killer I used on my foot causes neurological problems... another reason to take a heavy duty scrub brush to my body. Now, I don't mind a bit of pain, but that was freakin evil. And not in a good way. Next, I pick up my discarded cloths (I went naken through the house, for those of you who are wondering - the cloths came of the nanosecond I got inside) wiht a pair of tongs and toss them in the garbage.

So. I think I deserve a whole batch of chocolate chip cookies for that ordeal. Problem is, the chips look like bug bodies. Tomorrow, I'm getting Raid & whatever that stuff is that you spray on your windows & house perimeter. War on the little sh!ts. *evil eye*
