JerseyKrissi72 -> What Herbs Do You Take Regularly? (6/25/2007 1:23:17 PM)

I take a wide variety of herbs regularly to help with my type 1 diabetes, my thyroid problem as well as my bipolar and overall health. Cranberry is very good, especially for the urinary tract- cinnamon is very good for people with diabetes along with dandelion root. Recently, I began taking "olive leaf extract"

The benefits of olive leaf extract include:

Protecting the body from viruses, bacteria or retroviruses

Treating existing viruses including herpes and shingles

Possible Anti HIV activity

Improving circulation

Curing colds, flues and pneumonias

Aiding as a diuretic and digestive aid

Prevents intestinal muscle spasms

Used in ear, urinary, dental and surgical infection prevention and elimination

Decreases the effects of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome by increasing energy and overall well being

They exist, you just have to look for them.  I'm not sure which ones are effective off the top of my head, but I can look for you, or you could Google them.

To the OP, I'm a firm believer in holistic medicine.  Many folk remedies can do wonders with half the side-effects of pharmaceuticals.  I don't take any herbs regularly, but I do have quite a collection stocked up for random occasions.  I adore essential oils for their various healing and influential properties.  I have to say that Bergamot is my favorite.  It's an instant mood lifter and destresser..  Lavender's a close second.

I do not take anything.  Stealing is illegal.

When it comes to foodstuffs based on plantlife, I would have to say that ketchup is as close as it gets for me.  And I bet there's some extra seasoning in there as well.  Not that I would know what they are.  It's just ketchup to me.

Any relaxing/sedative herb would help with at least the PMS tension, and esp. the mints would probably be good as they warm the muscles.  Also if you're drinking herbal tea you're getting extra fluids which would help flush out water bloat. [:)]
