Vitamin K cream applied to your skin helps heal them within 48 to 72 hours.

Or a cloth soaked in cold water and vinegar held to the bruise.

I've never had to get rid of a bruise real fast...although people swear these are proven tactics.

Hope it helps.

The vitamin K cream works. I use it to get rid of bruises *not* caused by Master, since only his are pretty. lol

so where can you get this vitamin K cream? drugstores, health food stores?

my bruises are beautiful too and i hate the thought of them healing, but practicality has its place.

This discussion had some interesting ideas on how to handle bruising - perhaps some suggestions made might be of help?

Edit: Oops! I forgot to add I did a search on bruising using the Search feature to find this thread that I recalled - there were other threads that popped up - but I was lookng for this specific one. Some of the other threads may be helpful, and a search using bruise instead of bruising *might* bring up different discussions that might prove helpful.

I'd go to a health food store. That is not to say the local drug store would'nt have it either.

I've even see bruise pills at the health food store before. Not a clue if they work well though.

I think applying ice immediately after the scene should help too.

untamed,

I found the cream I use at my local health food store. I haven't bothered to see if it's anywhere else.

Hello,

Having spent most of my adult life in various martial arts, I wanted to throw my $0.02 cents in.

A bruise happens when blood vessels break under the skin. These then die (no circulation) and turn blue. The bodies response is to wall the area up with platelets and form what is essentially a scab under the tissue.

The body then works from the outside to reestablish blood flow to the area.

The way it was explained to me is to rub the bruises out the day or so after, which both hurts like hell and breaks up the platelet wall and allows the body to run blood into the area to clean out the dead stuff and build new live stuff.

I had a submissive who was an EMT who said this was horribly dangerous, but could not articulate why. I also have a friend who was a co-instructer at this same studio who is currently working as a doctor who doesnt see any problem with rubbing bruises out at all.

Vitamin K is excellent , but the bruise itself is just as Sinergy has described it in his post. To speed up the process of dissapating the bruise (discoloration under the skin) within the first 24 hours apply the cold compresses and vinegar. After the first 24 hours begin the massaging and apply warm compresses (short term between massages) to encourage circulation. Within 48-72 hours there will be significant improvement.

Wow, thanks for the great advice.. Glad I found this thread.. Will put vitamin k cream on my list, as well as more vinegar. I tend to bruise easily, and often. This will definitely be something to try since the vitamin C I've been taking hasn't been totally effective in reducing the bruising.

a sub who I am friends with also tends to bruise easily, and one time when over for dinner I noticed her putting red (cayenne) pepper powder on her food - and as it was not a food type one normally associates with putting red pepper on (ie mexican) I asked her about it - she said that the red pepper helps minimize bruising (something to do with the capsacian (sp?) in it)

I do not know if this has any basis in medical/biological fact, but she swore by it

Ok, we have the definition of contusion, now can we have the definition of hematoma?

Trying to rub out a hematoma would certainly hurt much worse than a bruise. Could you perhaps puncture it?

Hirudoid cream works really well.

But I like my bruises - if I'm gonna let someone hurt me, I'm gonna have my trophies!

I want to reply to everyone with a way to not insult them. (Sorry the first version was full of typos and sounded think I was trying to insult everybody.)

This will be not what untamed wants to hear, and will upset many, but when has that stopped me.

Bruises are there for a reason. You are asking for a way to circumvent a few billion years of evolution.

Nothing wrong with salves or creams, even if their efficacy is unproven they can't hurt. They may help, but can't hurt.

Rubbing out bruises, however reminds me too much of the old practice of giving running backs a pain killer for a minor injury and sending them back in the game. There was reason for the pain. Many ignored it and ended their careers.

There is a reason your body made those bruises. Don't just fix the symptom and ignore the underlying problem. Don't go back in for as long as it would take for the bruise to heal on its own.

Actually i love to be marks that are left on my body from a DOmme and the longer they last the better. But if you must............I have been told to use Arnica...........look it up on the internet for more information. You can find it at health/vitamin stores or maybe Longs Drugs. A Domme told me to use it....
