Some helpful tips for those that travel with toys.

Thanks cjenny, Thats a good article covers most things Ive run into over the past few years while travelling with toys. Only thing I would add, that Ive found helpful and I think someone may have mentioned it here before, is to make a list of all the toys/leather/latex clothing you have, and keep a copy in the cases being checked and a copy for yourself. I had a beautiful bullhide flogger go missing after one trip and no recourse, even tho a list may not help you in the long run, its shows that you are aware of the issues in case of a claim.
Taking floggers Ive found is the cause for cases to be stopped in my experience, as many of them have shot or metal as a balancing feature and that sets off questions about what you are carrying. Oh and dont forget to check alll vibes, in ziplocks, even a one inch bullet egg will get you pulled over.
Have fun travelling:)
Lucy

Even better and much safer is to use FedEx/UPS/whoever to mail the things you don't want to lose.  You won't have to worry about unscrupulous baggage handlers pawing through the articles and if something should get lost, and you're much more likely to get reimbursement from overnight shipping companies than airlines when you insure the shipment.

Hey stef
Thank you, an excellent point, and they are defnitely worth using especially shipping within the US or  within Canada, but not so much "internationally". I did it once sending toys from the US to Canada (I live in Canada) and got clobbered with duties and taxes, that exceeded the cost of the toys. Mind you I only did it once, and was told by my UPS man that I should have written "GIFT" across the waybill, otherwise the package is considered commercial and therefore subject to duties n taxes. But I think it only works coming into Canada from the US but check with your shipper.

in 2000 I was flying into Portland going to visit a friend who shared our interest in very large toys, I had all my stuff in one medium sized bag which I was on my way to check, I got tapped by security and asked if I would mind them searching my luggage (meaning if I said no I would miss my flight).

to my surprise the officer (an older gent) just opened up my bag right there in the middle of the concourse. a 14 inch long 12 inch (IIRC) dildo in plain site on top of everything else.

37 shades of red and 2 seconds later he snapped it closed and sent me on my way.

oh how things have changed...

I think I'll leave the toys at home next vacay and improvise if the mood strikes...

Never even crossed my mind, but that's an interesting point as well!

The only event i can ever picture flying to is Folsom Street, and i think i'd just plan to buy a whole bunch stuff there and ship it home. Otherwise, have car, will travel.
