Good afternoon. Just wondering how many of us calls our Dom either Sir or Master and is there a difference between the two?

I believe it only comes down to personal preference for the people within that dynamic...of course I am also sure that many others have differing thoughts on this ,coming from wether they are of the leather community,or have a submissive vs slave etc..but ~shrug~ I interpret it as being a pretty fluid thing...Tempting

i was told it is Sir until i would be collared then it would be Master. but i guess it depends on the Dom Himself

Everyone has different things they call their Dominants. In our dynamic I call others in the lifestyle that are dom Sir or Maam unless told otherwise. I call him Master because I am owned and collared to him and he is my Master. Now this is different for everyone. Everyone has their own thing that they do. This is what works for us.

i use neither at His request. i use His given name in public and the nickname i gave to Him in private. He loves it as i chose it just for Him. He chose a special name for me for the same reason. c

For myself, I will accept a sub or my boy to call me either Dom or Sir. I draw the line at being called Master. Being called Master isn't something I'm comfortable with and avoid allowing myself to be labelled as such.

Hmm... I call him Sir... sometimes Master... I call him Valyraen and his given name... I call him Boo... and Boo-Bear and my Boofish... We tend to just call each other whatever comes out of our mouths. [:)]

Always Sir, never Master...granted, he views me as his sub, not his slave. In his words, my place is on his arm. Were my typical place at his feet (even though he enjoys seeing me there), perhaps it would be Master, but he wants to be called Sir even after I'm collared.

There is also a common occurence I have seen with "Sirs". A slave will have one Master, and that is who owns them and has the ultimate say in everything, but also have one or even several Sirs who give them orders and can usually use them in whatever ways are outlined to them by the slave's Master.

My Pet calls me "Master." She tried "Sir" on for size once, but we decided against it. In the future, she may find herself with another dominant man, if I decide to share her. She will call that man "Sir." I am not just someone she is told to show respect to. I have worked hard to earn her respect and undying devotion. For my troubles, I am her Master. Even though I call her "Slave" as a name sometimes, her title is "My Pet" to me, and only me. No other man could get away with calling her "My Pet." She'd go feral for sure. If I decided to take on another submissive, she would have her own title, take the name "Slave", or something of the sort. The second submissive would never be "My Pet." In our relationship "Master" and "My Pet" are names. I love her too much to treat her like a real slave 100% of the time. The fact that she desires to have this be a lifestyle means we need a sustainable balance. I couldn't see us having a true M/s Lifestyle... She is My Everything. She will be My Slave when I desire... My Slut, My Theif, My Whore, My Toy, My Love, My Schoolgirl, My Secretary, My Maid, My Lover, My Spoiled Little Brat... Anything I want her to be. Sometimes our dynamic is very informal and loving. Other times she knows to show the utmost respect and formal behavior. It all depends on the scent in the air.

i always call Him Master, never by His 1st name thats not my perogative and i have to say it would feel very strange, i would feel i was being disrepsectful. W/we did break up for a while and although i used His chrisitian name then (twice lol i avoided having to use it) i found it very difficult and He said it was very un-natural to hear His christian name coming out of my mouth. On occasions if i havent greeted Him accordingly He will correct me and if ive had to be prompted twice (rarely now) then i would be punished, although to Masters credit He will always pause and wait just in case im not alone when He has called me on the phone. Usually when im referring to Him or something W/we have done that can be discussed with my (aware) vanilla friends ie, my tattoo (He designed it),weight, shoes/clothes (those vanillia's are a curious bunch) He likes me to wear etc it is always The Man or Himself/Him/He, rarely do i use His christian name, i avoid using it at all times because it just doesnt sit well with me. Its also about showing my deference to Him. Same has to be said for Master, He never calls me by my christian name. It is always slave, slut, bitch etc. If W/we are in a public arena He will call me slave or slut although 'usually' using a quieter voice lol although there have been times when He hasnt been so subtle and it gave me much pleasure and mortified me on equal measures lol or in instances where im a distance away from Him He will stand and beckon me to Him or point at His feet (if i can see His hands clearly anyway). im aware some wont agree or understand but different dynamics. I agree that it depends on the Dom or Master. It can also depend on the situation, or "what's in the air", as HeavensKeeper put it. He has told me to call Him Sir, sometimes I will say Master though. To some, the difference may be that Master signifies ownership, whereas Sir is an address of respect. Other than that, it's just preference.
