i recently had my wrists pierced so cuffs are out of the question, even short term and i saw these bicep restrains on some website but they appeared to pull the shoulders back more than i am able to and were not adjustable...
any ideas of how to modify or construct something that could provide arm restraints at any point other than the wrists? preferably in a buckle on method because i'm not all that into rope bondage...plus rope tends to stretch and become lax...(anyone know how to keep that from happening or a kind of rope that doesn't do that, but is still smooth and not scratchy)

chelle,

I've had a great deal of success out of using a number of cuffs with D rings along the length of the both arms at forearm, elbow, bicep and then humerus. I've then taken buckling dog collars and threaded them through the D rings and drawn the arms back and together. If there is trouble with flexibility you could accomplish the same thing with a longer belt and punch more holes along its length to allow for closer or further restraint of the arms.

Have you considered rope bondage as an alternative. With rope an endless variety of combinations restraining the biceps, forearms, elbows, or any other part of the arm avoiding your piercings; at the same time providing complete immobility. Another idea, find a good lether glove and sew a D-ring to the back of the glove (rivets could also work, but you may need to reinforce the backing). The D-ring can now become the anchor point to whatever fasterner that can attach to the ring. This arrangement can bind hands to hands, hands to legs, hands to St. Andrews Cross, etc.. Boxing gloves, weightlifting gloves, old ski gloves, cycling, or sailing gloves can be utilitized or recycled if you care to use that term.

How about using ankle cuffs around your biceps? If they have a buckle they should be adjustable to suit?

Just a suggestion

I would be willing to bet that you used bulk twist cotton.

All rope has strech to it. Thats just the way it goes. However, some ropes have a lot more strech than others. Promilla has the lest strech in my opinion but although it is smooth and not scratchy is is stiff so Im going to assume thats out. Hemp rope is not that far behind. But when that stuff comes right off the spool it is scratchy. There are methods to make it much much softer. Several placed exist that will do all the labor of conditioning the rope for you (and the best place that will do this is www.kinkyropes.com !)

One other tip you could try is to use shorter ropes. Because strech is a precentage of rope length, a shorter rope will have less total distance added than a longer rope that is wraped around mutiple times. Unfortunatly, wraping a rope around fewer times meens less surface area againt the skin and the rope becomes more painful.

my thoughts exactly but i didn't respond to it....
thanks for the suggestions in your previous message...i have most often used 1/4" - 3/4" twisted nylon rope...and long before i am ready to have it off, its falling it off...(2 hours is the longest i've had a rope harness actually stay on) in all actuallity, i can be a rope slut, but its frustrating...so i haven't done it much lately...

oh and thanks for all the other suggestions...i have been thinking about it and i think the head of my household can fashon something up that would be suitable, but all the ideas given have helped....the whole adjustable issue was a big "hmmmm" for me...

would love something that i could do a little self bondage with but it would defeat the purpose of these particular restrains so, i have to schedule some play time with one of the Dominants in my family...oh no, the horrors, lol...

now, what time does the leather store open in the morning....

Eek! Yeah, nylon dosent strech as much as cotton does, but it comes close.

A funny story from a few years back. I was at a bdsm convention where the playspace was in a huge open barn. The rafters were at least 30 feet up. The orgnizer of the event had set up a place for suspention bondage where the hardpoint would be within easy reach of the people playing. He decided the best way to do this was to hang a length of nylon rope from the rafters down to within 5 feet of the floor. The first person who tried doing suspention on that was in for quite a shock when he had finished rigging the chest harnes, lifted his partners ankles to tie them off as well. Once her full weight was on the nylon it streched and she did a faceplant right into the ground.

Hey there, was just browsing around and saw these cuffs and remembered reading your post.... hope its not too late..

They are a pair of bicep cuffs and appear to be buckled and lockable, with 2 d rings on each which would give you the option of how close you wanted them attached together.

all talking about bicep restraints, but referring to your question:
maybe thumb cuffs will be just enough?
put the "thumb cuffs" into the google, you will receive a lot results.

One of the things I enjoy about BDSM is the arts and crafts opportunities it affords. Take some leather (a wide belt will do nicely) and either get some rivets and buckles (http://eleathersupply.com/spikesandstuds.shtml) or whatever attachments you want, then make a couple cuffs. D rings or loops can be attached with a punch and thread or leather thong, or if they're big you can thread the cuff right through them. The first pair you make may be ugly, if I'm a representative first-timer, but the second and subsequent ones will be vastly improved. Chain is prety cheap, or you can attach it with whatever you prefer.
