I have heard a couple of descriptions of mental bondage and what it means to people. I was hoping for a few more definitions and personal experiences because the ones I heard conflicted and made me question what it meant to me. Thanks in advance. Peace the.dark.

I don’t need a gag to be silent. I don’t need shackles or rope or restraints to be still. I don’t need a leash to be led. I am bound only by the fact that I have agreed to submit. I stay in place, or I follow at his command. Do I have to? Yes. Although the bond is not a tangible thing, it is no less real.

That pretty much says it all for me also. I enjoy the challenge of being told no sound, do not move also.

To me, menatl bondage is the act of being told to hold a certain position (or stay quiet, etc) without ropes, straps, chains, gags, shackles, etc. And alot of times, its alot harder than actually being tied up. To be physically restrained, is very..well..freeing to me. I know it sounds contradictive, but it isnt. If I dont have to concentrate on being still or holding a position, it frees up my mind to concentrate more on what Sir is doing, or what he has asked me to do. Mental bondage, being told to stay in a certain place, takes alot of concentration, and therefore distracts..expecially when you have a sadistic Dom who is doing everythign they can to make you move after they've told you to be still....

I find mental bondage to be sexier then actual bondage. Knowing how much of your control of your sub............hawt!

Catise... beautiful... thank you! I love mental bondage! Taking someone who has only known physical bondage to mental bondage has it's challenges... but is sooooooooo much fun! Dark, can you explain a bit on what you thought didn't line up? It's kind of hard to know how to answer you. Great topic, for sure!

Anyone can bind and he would have to obey....but if he can obey with nothing physically holding him....well....there ya go...lol

Mental bondage is a fun state to play with. If you tie a sub's hands she can still get free. Not if she's accepted the bonds in her mind, though. While I don't think it's definitive, mental bondage seems to be a defining difference between being a sub and a slave. When a sub is untied they're free. When a slave is untied she's still bound.
