I have been watching the concert that Princes William and Harry put on to mark what would of been the 46th birthday of their Mother , Princess Diana.  It is not yet over but I keep losing my feed for the program but hope that before Elton John come on for a special tribute to Lady Di this will come back again.
While watching this I saw the heartfelt feelings from many people over in England ( and Canada too). I watched the looks on her sons faces as the different performers went onstage to sing .
I wonder how many on CM watched this concert or part of it?  Or better yet were any from here actually at Wimbleton watching in person?  Were the ones who watched via tv only from England and Canada or were there others that caught it as well.?
Happy Canada Day     &
Happy Independence Day to the US on the 4th of July

Yes, I am watching it.
Its quite good.  Better than I expected.  Duran were good - and Anastasia rocked - I thought NERD were pretty cool too - but Puff Daddy sucked and made me.  And the money will go to good causes and the whole ideas ok - and the memory of Diana is cool.  However I don't believe she should be deified as some people feel is needed.  She was a person who knew the power she had and used it in a positive way.  But that was it.

Peace

i watched a lot of it this afty and enjoyed it on the whole. i dont know, Diana was much loved by millions for her human touch and love of life, it shone out of her and im not a royalist by any means but i did like her and did feel she was treated dismally at times.

A great many ppl felt they had a bond with her, her sons have shown a lot of maturity in growing up in the public eye and in not overdoing the 'my mother was an icon' bit we would like to do a party in her memory. The great thing is, its brought ppl together for what, had she still being alive Diana would have loved plus they have raised a hell of a lot of money for the those charities she and they support.

Cant say fairer than that can you ?

dpt.

I agree the money this concert will bring in will go to great causes. And because of how Lady Di was, in that she did get out with the people, and was comfortable doing so,  just makes todays event that much more meaningful.
I myself am glad that her sons were brought up to see everything around them, not to wear rose colored glasses and not see past the palace gates.
Unfortunately I could not get my tv feed to come back on and I missed the last hour or so of the event.  Anybody tell me if it was as good as I heard it would be?  The ending that is..
Take care all

Take That rocked actually.
Ricky Gervais was funny - and I am not a fan usually.
Elton John was... well... Elton!  Cool, talented,  a complete queen and entertaining.

The Boys were cool and it closed with Mandela.  I am sure youtube will have it in bits... and there is bound to be a DVD. - it would be a commercial crime for there not to be so that they can raise more money.

Peace

The concert did bring people together and hopefully it will raise some money for the nominated charities. I am not sure though that everyone that attended or watched did so to celebrate Diana or because it was an opportunity to see some great musicians all performing on the same stage. I was not a Diana fan but I still watched it and I am sure there are many others like me.

The mixture of performers was designed to appeal to as wide a range of tastes and age ranges as possible so of course there would be good and bad in everyones opinion. Elton was great as always. My only regret is that Status Quo only got to do one song (they were the only band that had calls for them to come back from the audience).
