ok let's see ok one no one will ever know the bbq sauce secrets hahaha

two its called my thread and it lead to the topic of food by way of PETA discussion. Don't like it? oh well.

three i am abotu as diverse as they come, black cheyenne indian, irish and scotish. And the reason being proud to be white is because and this is the one thing people need to remember, who often are the one sshouting WHITE PRIDE? Oh i don't know the KKK and the Skin heads. You want to be able to say you are proud to be white and not worry about negative reactions. Deal with those fuckheads first.

And another thing Eru IF you had read the entire thread and the very first post this was more than a racial thing. It was a BULLSHIT in America thread, just so happen race plays alot into it.

yeah though i am very curious about the curse.  my mick roots are WAYYYYYY back in the family tree. As for the BBQ sauce i'll share a taste bu never the full recipie you'll just have to suffer. The other i don't do like some is put the sauce on before the food is done. I prefere to cut my ribs up drip them and then toss them into the pan for everyone to fight with. I havent talked to anyone back home yet but I am sure they like "Damn we need Kris here. Wagner can't make sauce worth shit."

Obviously she was correct in terms of national average.
However, it is not true in the areas I live and work in.

You speak of the percentages in your cell block. Being female, wouldn't you work in a female cell block?

No. Why would you think that?

The first prison I worked at didn't even have female inmates. The jail I work for now has some female inmates but there are FAR more female jailers than female inmates...some female jailers work with the women. The majority work with the men.

How ironic, (trying to get back on topic.)

i live in a racially diverse neighborhood, and guess what?  My front door is unlocked as well.  When ums were young, they could go to any house on the street and I was not fearful they would be harmed. Nor am I afraid to allow ums to associate with those who are "different" from them.

When oldest was choosing colleges to attend, he wanted to go somewhere totally different, to further diversify his experiences.  He chose Southern Va., ( we are 50 miles north of NYC, ) and was shocked at the racism and prejudice embodied by some of the student population.  I am not saying that all Virginians are prejudiced. Just his experience. Being a New Yorker, and Jewish was a shock to some of his classmates.

Bias isnt genetic.  Its a learned response, most often from parent to child.

I find it sad that in this millenium there are still those who advocate racial supremacy, religious supremacy, and teach their ums that they have something to fear from others who are different simply because  their skin is a different color.

I dont teach my UM that he has anything to fear from people who's skin is a different color, nor do I advocate racial supremacy. I lead a cub scout den that my son is a member of, I have UMs of three different races in my den. My UM plays with them at least once a week, twice on the last week of the month and there is a pack meeting. I treat every UM in my den the same, and insist that everyone around me does the same. I treat those UMs parents exactly the same as the other parents also. I dont feel safe in my neighborhood because its "all white" it happens to be but that is because its all family. Im sure there are other safe neighborhoods left in this country which are more diverse, but I know they are getting fewer and farther between.  Im am not bias because of anything I learned from my parents, I refuse to live anywhere else because i HAVE lived everywhere else. As a daughter of a methodist pastor who moved every two years, and as a military wife, I have lived in over 45 homes in 3 countries and I am only 27 years old. From personal experiance, life is easier when we live near others who believe the same as we do about child safety and responsibility. Its a fact of life, not everyone does.

Even up here in the middle of nowhere, in a town whose "racial diversity" is around 1/2 a percent (thanks to our resident native american), we lock our doors at night.  Even in a quiet little town like North Conway, NH, there was a shooting the other day.. 3 people dead for no reason.  There are just too many weirdos roaming the streets, not to mention the crackhead (white) who keeps inviting himself over to our house.. who has attempted to break into our house because he was all coked out and thought b had stolen his cat (good thing for him I wasn't here when that happened.. or he'd have had a 12 gauge up his ass.. perfectly legal in Maine).

The only thing I don't lock is my truck.  I'm HOPING it gets stolen and trashed.. lol

I'm guessing you meant southwestern VA... the notion that the people in the Tidewater area had never seen any such diversity is laughable. Hampton Roads is not only a large international seaport, but also the large military presence, NASA, universities, etc. brings people from all around the world to live and work together there.
