Anyone watch that program on Lifetime? I love it. And not just becasue it has Catherine Bell in it either. LOL It is a fairly reasonable depiction of military family lives. Like when the post commander's daughter protested to bring the troops home and he had a cow. In the military, he is responsible for every act that anyone in the family does. Of course being the Post Commander he isn't allowed to express an opinion and neither is his family publically or there will be consequences against him potentially.

My Dad always told me "Son...if you ever get the inclination....just remember...you can either walk...or ride....choose wisely". (Dad was no dumbfuck).

I hardly ever watch TV. Nonetheless, thanks a million for pointing out a program I could have lived without for the rest of our lives. Merci beaucoup et toutes ces sortes de choses... mille baisers au cas ou (l'accent EST manquant, pardon).

well i'm not an army wife, but i am a Navy girlfriend. and I concur that it is very realistic. Having just did a change of station and going thru all the red tape and paperwork... background checks, etc... many dont realize that if your significant other is in the upper ranks of whatever branch it may be.... everything you do is put under a microscope. I still like NCIS better... and The Unit shows alot more of the struggles of having a significant other in a position where they are not allowed to tell you much and although you may think you are prepared to hear what they truly go thru, unless you have been there, you can't honestly say "I know how you feel" because most of us would not have a clue. Your faith is most certainly tested.. in your relationship, in the system itself and in each other. ImurDaddy did several tours in the "sand box" with the Army Infantry division and even after all this time, there are many things he struggles with on a daily basis and refuses to even discuss.

Hey beauty. I am retired and spent over 1/2 my career as a single parent so I empathise. What i had to do to my kids in just walking away and stuff leaving them with friends and family just wasn't a good thing for them. as for your bf yes, you are under a microscope. Probably more than you know. But regardless I understand how he feels. I will share. My PTSD crops out every christmas. I had two major traumatic events. the first wHen I was 19 I had to hold a baby covered in Dad's brains (head was shot off while taking the kid to a doc). Burned my clothes. The second I had to make a death notification to mom and 4 kids that wanted to know if knew their dad - he was in teh Army too. Both were at Christmas the death notification was on Christmas Day. Now I have a hard time with Christmas. I also have 2 distinct personalities. One is military, one is me. the military one comes out every time I drive thru the gate on base. Even the way I sit and walk changes. And I don't even see it. My family makes fun of me when I do that LOL My sister made fun of me last weekend because we went to a Renn Faire and stayed at an AF rec center. The way I did things changed and I never knew it LOL Need someone to chat with give me a shout

Not and army wife but I was a Navy Brat- hell I loved it-and all the places we lived. Mom Hated it we'd get settled in some place. Dad would then be transfered again and the whole moving thing would start over Not easy with 4 kids. Was fun as a kid though- become friends with army/navy guys bring them home for Thanksgiving or Xmas because they were away from their families. They were like big brothers to me. Fuuny back then they seemed so much older to me but they were just they were 18/19 years old.

Especially those in the barracks or on board ship. When I was at Travis AFB (remember I was army) I brought a storeskeeper and a yoeman home to live with me for a while during some of the race riots they had there. My leading chief (yeah I worked for a navy chief) had his house full as well as the other maried people. Oh and I have been to sea on many vessels with the Navy. Last time was with the USS Essex (LPH-2 - not the carrier) LOL

I was curious about it when i first heard that it was going to be aired. The fist episode turned my stomach, it was badly done. I don't watch alot of television either and wanted to see what they were going to do with this. I have since watched a few more episodes, some of them are ok.....certainly better than the first one. ~smilezz~

Ive never watched the show, don't really get into the network stuff, but I might be interested in seeing their take on the situation at least once. Im an Army wife, My husbands been in the Military for 24 years, 11 in the Marines and 13 in the Army. I've only been married to him during his time in the Army though. I agree the government definantly runs your entire life. ~~edited for bad spelling...need more coffee

I agree that some of the episodes aren't well directed. LOL But then look at Startrek LOL still popular almost 50 eyars later and has many takeoffs. And the acting and directing really stunk at times. LOL I think the director needs more time to learn his trade. LOL And yeah some of the movies aren't "girly" but usually pretty good anyway. I also watch WE and OXYGEN. Same with them. LOL

Actually it's Kim Delaney. I've watched a few episodes, but I don't see anything that great about. I rate it along with most of the other Lifetime fare...a bit overdramatic.

I can appreciate and understand. That is the point of the show I think How tough it is on family life. How unsettled you really are. Hopefully some day it will all change.

Im not unsettled, and I dont think my UM's are either. It all depends on how you work with the system. Things are better now than they used to be, I will definantly admit that. When my husband is overseas, he can email back and forth, if we are lucky we get to webcam once a month or so. My little brother is also in the Amry, and has been in Kuwait for a little less than a year now. He is even more lucky because he works with computers and is online with his wife almost every day. Its much easier to talk on the phone, and mail is much more reliable now. Base housing has improved dramatically over the past few years, and once you get through the early years of training, the moving really settles down. My husband has been stationed in the same location for almost 10 years. His LT is wonderful, and the family support system is working well (or at least I hope the other families here would say it is, seeing as how my husband and I are in charge of it). Family support can mean alot of things, Ive had to go with other wives to their kids schools when kids act up, and the hubby's had to go rescue drunk wives from bars occasionally, but for the most part its just helping the new spouses learn how to use the system to their advantage.
