Status: offline 		Many things factor into who is a suitable D/s partner, geographic distance, lifestyle preferences, sexual preferences, appearance,age, etc, etc. One of the issues I have run into is my being a dedicated Shamanic pagan. Some people just don't care that on a drive in the car or walk in the bush that hawk is one of Creator's messengers or that certain stones have metaphysical properties. They don't understand that you have ritual to do or why. They are perplexed and bemused by my talking about "baby", my quartz crystal that takes two hands to hold or that I have a smaller, but stronger crystal that I use for healings.

So I would love to talk to others like myself, for whom the pagan lifestyle is as important as the BDSM lifestyle.

I have accepted that I won't find someone who understands and supports both those facets of my being. But it would be nice to communicate with others dealing with similar issues.

Sorry, when I came out in the local area, I was shocked to find that about half of the people in the local scene is some kind of Pagan, mostly Wiccan, but while my lady and I practice BDSM ANd Paganism, we found another who is also a Druidic/Switch like we are. It was really serendipity.

I know several pagans of different flavors who are also into various aspects of BDSM, so it's not as hard as you may think.

Status: offline 		*Raises hand* Eclectic pagan here and that's just as much a part of me as BDSM is, so I'm glad that my pet's religious interests, though technically agnostic, are spiritual enough for her to not feel odd with me talking about my beliefs.

Raven Kaldera has written a bit about the intersection of paganism and BDSM. And he agrees that pagans are often suspiciousof or hostile to BDSM.

You might want to read a couple articles by him:

Don't Break The Spirit; Slave Training in an Animistic Pagan World

He occasionally posts in the DomSubSpirituality mail list, and I think you will also find other like-minded pagans there as well.

Kitchen witch here, thouogh a fairly lapsed one. I'm looking forward to this move, though, so I can get our houseinto better order and harmony and get my altar back up. I found I had difficulty with locations when I got to college.

I've had difficulty where I am finding groups that are accepting of non-wiccan paths. I have been told repetedly that the group though that I was far too disorganized in my worship for their rituals. It was a bit disconcerting, as I don't really denegrate -any- worship, just have a rather catch-all kind of practice.

it's hard, too, because my partner is a devout atheist, and I feel that often I hvae to downgrade my religion to make it ok for him. I can accept that, but I do wish I could find a local community.

(Incedentally, I've been loving my spirtual journey lately, becuse I've been delving more and more into the...the home stuff. The magic of cooking and sewing especially. The partner appreciates the results even if he doesn't "believe" my techniques. :) )

I have been very active in the real time BDSM lifestyle in my area for 6 years or more, each area differs in makeup. It is not so easy in this area to find a suitable match.

I was wondering if he downplays his atheism to make it ok for you? He doesn't have to believe what you believe, but as a partner, he should be able to support your personal journey as you support his.

Status: offline 		(*raising hand*) May a Wiccan join in this thread? Master and i are both Wiccans and we have the same difficulty, finding local people who are in the lifestyle. Mostly here, once people find we are Wiccan, they get uncomfortable.

we're working on it. Mostly, he's fine with the belief in divitnity, it's the more...esoteric....stuff he's got problems with. Problems isn't the right word. He doesn't understand.

He doesn't take issue with me believing in active dieties, he just doesn't understand the need for active worship of them ;)

It's not quite a point of contention, but very much a point of discussion.

My Father had killed Himself, and I was looking
for something to take away that pain!

Unfortunately, paganism was not it.
It didn't have the Spiritual Answers to lifes keys
that I needed.
