Eat four sweet cookies in a row. Then eat two sweet cookies, a salty pretzel, and then two more cookies. Likely, you'll notice the sweetness in the second set of cookies much more than you did just eating four in a row. Our bodies become habituated, they get chemicals flowing and reactions going to what we give them. If we keep going on that level, the chemicals level out, our bodies adjust. This is natural and normal for survival. Now, change something else, your body needs to readjust again, whole new sets of reactions and chemicals. When you go BACK to the original one, you're starting near baseline with those happy chemicals, rather than just building up like you're used to. Everyone has different variations of HOW they feel it, to what extent and in what ways- but it's a general universal truth that our bodies and minds interpret signals more when they are changed than when they stay the same.
