I know that people in the states probably have no idea who Alan is, but in the UK he is a pretty well known face and well liked reporter. He had gained huge respect from those people living(and working) around him in whilst he worked in Gaza and was respected for the understanding and respect he showed the palestinians and their traditions. There had been a huge outpouring of condemnation from many sources and it was pretty much realised that when he had been kidnapped, that his kidnappers made a mistake in choosing him as a target.
Fortuantely, he has been released, without torture and my thoughts go out to his friends and family and I look forward to hearing more about his ordeal as I am sure he will undoubtedly report it in his own unique and unbiased way.
