After heavy lobbying by President Putin....Sochi, Russia will be the venue for the 2014 Winter Olympic games. The venue, on the Black sea, organizers say is perfect since it ranges from snow-capped mountains to warm beaches.

This will be the first time the Olympics will be in Russia since the Summer games in 1980 which were hit hard by a US-European boycot.

Cities in Austria and South Korea were the other two finalists... One leader in Austria criticized the International Olympic Committee claiming they only choose large, rich nations to host the games and smaller countries don't have a chance in winning a bid.
