For example when you see a temperature for San Diego it's usually the one taken at the airport. A lovely little facility right on the harbor with the breeze off the water. Drive inland a few miles and you have a 15 to 20 degree temperature differential. Today in my neck of the woods it was 93. San Diego proper was listed as 73. It's supposed to break 100 over the weekend. UGH!

south texas is confused...its the middle of july and the highs hit the mid 80's...what is this global warming stuff i hear? oh its conditional global warming...ok, makes sense to me..................

Swamp coolers work very well here. It's another story when the 'monsoon' heads our way. The coolers don't work worth a damn and this turns into tornado country. (Betcha didn't know CA gets tornados either. Damn tourism board propaganda...)

I get a bucket and fill it with water and ice cubes and soak my feet/thighs in it. It cools me down quite a bit. I do have AC, but I hate to use it all the time, I have a thing about letting the fresh air in at least 4 hours a day. mbmbn

I got up at 4:40 today to walk to start walking to the gym by 5:45. I ran, came home, got showered and dressed to get to the store and get all my errands done before noon. Costco does not open until 11, some of the things I needed were from there, so I strategically planned getting there by 11, shopping, and leaving as fast as possible. By the time I left Costco it was well over 100 degrees here, and by the time I got home I was having trouble breathing. I ate lunch and passed out for a few hours. My thermometer read over 110 in the shade, although it may have gotten hotter. Getting over a summer cold sucks when it is so hot out. I am supposed to have lunch with one of my professors this weekend, I think it may have to be breakfast because it is going to be triple digits for as long as the forecast lasts.

We've had a lot of rain here in NY (near nyc) it's been relatively cool at night - no need for AC - hot but between 70's and 80's - humidity not too bad... yet. i hate hot weather, it just sucks the life right out of you. [:o]

We hit 110 yesterday and about 108 today plus humidity, we have a 'cooling center' down the street from me, an I have gone over there the last few days for a few hours to give my a/c a chance to recover. I actually started to drink WATER today {gasp}, too freakin hot. Those with the rain and cooler temps, send that stuff west, we can use the help.

its been in the upper 80's here for the last few days. which is cool for this time of year. its been so humid it rains up instead of down. its not hot till its 100 degrees plus 85% plus humidity making the heat index hit over 115 and on top of that your standing on a roof with a surface temp near 150 degrees and your laying shingles which i might add is physical labor. If you have to deal with the heat, try cooling with wet cloths on areas of the skin in which veins run close to the surface. you want the cloth about 65-80 degrees( any cooler can throw you into shock) and place it on areas such as wrist( palm up) inside of elbows and knees, back or sides of neck.since your skin is trying to cool your pores will be open and the coolness from the cloth will cool your blood. which will after a bit cause your entire body to feel cooler. each time you resoak the cloth change locations as your pores will close up some in that area and be less effective. You can also soak your feet or hands in tap water and this will cool your blood. some one mentioned a hot shower, which opens your pores( and helps unclog them if you been sweaty) and for a time the air will feel cooler until your body readjust to the tempature change. if your lucky enough to have a basement or crawl space with inside access but no A/C you can place a fan( the bigger the better) at the opening blowing the air up into the main floor. basements are alway cool and we use this when we are doing interior work on a new home. crawlspaces are cool also but not quite as nice as basements

shoot it has been raining here everyday this week. in the high 80's and low 90's, but it feel like someone soaked a flannel blanket and stuck in the micro then wrapped you in it. god, the air is so thick you can literally feel it, butt the air is set on 74 and works wonderfully! bless the man that invented central AC.... lee
