Add two slave opinions and you still do not have a scientific sampling.

Ah yes, all too true.

Lucky for me I enjoy collecting such data, sometimes with the assistance of my pig slapper. Twenty-six thousand or so such collections doesn't sound that bad to me right now.*wink*

In my not so humble opinion, qualitative data gathering is way more telling then quantitative, even if not as scientific. But we are in social sciences here, not pure sciences so your methodology is quite valid. So go on and gather Taggart!

And since you are gathering, I will tell you my own opinion of the difference between a sub and a slave...

A submissive actively submits each time. A slave submits once and for good (or until they ask for release).

I tend to hook up with submissives simply because to be completely honest, I cannot micromanage. And this isn't a criticism of people who do. Some people like micromanaging and some people need it. I’ve tried a slave once and I just about died of exhaustion. This doesn’t make me any less or more dominant. It just means I look for different things.

Then of course, I agree with those who say ask a 100 people and you’ll get a hundred definitions. But we have words for a reason, because we build schemas for reference. And I believe when you try to build your own schemas, it’s great that you have the open-mindedness to go around and ask for others opinions.

After all, isn’t this a message board developed specifically for this purpose?

We'd go to events with Jonny serving as my valet, carrying my bag, lighting my cigarettes, brushing off my jacket, and we'd pimp each other shamelessly ('My gawd m'am- those heels must be killing you! would you like my fellow to rub your feet?..." " the master is visiting alone tonight- perhaps you'd like to work with him?") which went over really well.

I'm digressing off topic but I just have to say I love it!

Milady Angelika-

It was alot of fun, and an incredibly effective approch to 'working the room'. And Jonny, bless his heart and slap his bottom, could actually refer to me as 'the master' so conversationally and stright-faced that I had to often stop people from using it as my name!

Happily, sadly, my man Jonny hooked up with a wonderful Lady and moved away to serve her.

I really miss that guy... Making the scene just isn't the same without him.

Stay warm,
Lawrence

Darlin',

You seemed to do just fine without him last weekend :-)

Alright, am I the only straight, male, completely dom, Master type person who is just dying to see Lawrence in action??? (This is not a question for you females, I know you are all dying to feel him in action.)

At this point, I'd buy a ticket or even a video.

Yours,
Taggard

On my website I have a modified BDSM checklist that categorizes the three aspects of BDSM. At this point, I have over 100 replies from verified different ip addresses. I am working on some statistical analysis, shoudl be intresting.

If Lawrence is ok with it, I can send you a link to web pages I put up after last weekend. Though most of the pics are of me (but are a result of his work).

Two exhibitionists together and a digital camera makes for great memories.

Or, head for NY the last weekend of the month. If the travel plans work out, we'll be playing in a public dungeon in the area (I hope).

That is actually quite doable for me...maybe we could all get together for dinner? Any one else up for a late July meeting in NYC?

I grew up in Brooklyn, and I noticed that what used to be the Hellfire is now a club just blocks from where I spent the first 17 years of my life. I am spending Thursday thru Sunday in NE Penn and thinking about heading into the City on Saturday night...any ideas for me?

Thanks,
Taggard

Is the desire of service separate and independent from the desire to be owned, or is service simply more evidence to one's owned status?

Taggard,

There are as many flavors of kink as there are those that practice it. And many of the words you use are loaded with connotations that differ from person to person.

I have no desire to be owned. But I take that word very literally. One example I heard to make my point was from a woman who identifies as a slave. She said "My mistress informed me that she always wanted a child but didn't want to carry the baby. She was thinking about having me artificially inseminated and then having me to sign over custody of the child to her." I consider this fair game in an owned situation. And not wanting to give someone this level of control, refuse to be owned.

However, I am a service submissive by orientation. I love making my partner happy. I don't need an erotic component to my activities to make them enjoyable. Just the smile on his face will be the reward I seek at times. Cooking, laundry, errands, managing a social calendar... are all things I can do to enhance his life. All of these I consider service.

So to answer your question, in my case, the desire to serve is separate and independent from the desire to be owned.

I am so in. I know that part of Brooklyn like a wino knows Thunderbird.

Mailing Lawrence right now.

As for publicity, maybe the mods could put something on the opening page...maybe in red?

Yours,
Taggard

I would love to see that too if it's ok with both of you. If so can you send the link to me at collarme? Thanks.

I'd rather not post the link to this site... I'm a bit selective about my exhibitionism (go figure...)

But if Lawrence says ok, I'll send you a link privately.

WUAAAAHAHAHAHA oh MY...what a can of worms this could be!

Ya know, Sherri's coming too. We haven't discussed whether we'll play or not, but if we do then it might afford you the opportunity to see me play FIRST. <smile>

It just occurred to me that this might also be a good time to do the Lawrence/Suz tag team on Sherri that's been discussed....hmmmmm....something to ponder.

Time to brush up on the double singletail technique! Frankly, this is the most psyched I've been about public play and get together in some time.

TOO KEWL!
