On corsets: Corsets are not normally a quick item to put on. If you go for a corset that you can lace tightly and feel like your waist has been pulled in an inch or two, you need to buy ones with steel boning, busks, and that tighten from the middle, not from the top or bottom. However, the ritual of putting on a corset - loosening the laces, hooking the busks, tightening the laces, watching your breasts rise and your waist cinch in the process, methodically donning this outfit made of a material that makes you feel divine and in control and in power - that can certainly be empowering. If a sub is helping me don a corset, I often feel very dominant after the process is over. Especially if the sub then helps me into my boots, kisses the toes of my boots, and thanks me for the privilege afterwards. If M is helping me into a corset, I find myself flying into subspace with each tightening of the laces, and all i want afterwards is to fall to the ground and lick his boots. So items of clothing can all be about mindset as you put them on. Having said that, the link Lashra provided is an EXCELLENT site for leather corsets. The corsets are sized from itsy bitsy all the way to something like 6X or 7X. The woman is very good about answering e-mail questions (give her time as she's a busy lady), and I have 6 of her corsets (5 overbust, one underbust) and one of her corset dresses in my closet. Leather corsets are great because they do loosen as the leather warms and stretches, which means you can get a break from the tightness, or you can have a recurring ritual of having your sub tighten your laces once each time interval (20 minutes, hour, etc). For fabric/tapestry corsets, especially of the Victorian/Elizabethan style I recommend looking for SCA/Renn faire websites. When you buy a corset, you will get what you pay for. If you are paying 50 bucks, you will probably get "off the rack" sizing rather than something sized to your body, hooks and eyes instead of steel busks, plastic rather than steel boning, lightweight manmade materials and/or stretch fabrics or PVC rather than latex or leather, and something whose stitching will fall out after a year or so of use. If you pay 300 dollars or more for a corset, you're going to be looking at steel busks, custom sizing to your body, steel boning, heavy duty tapestry fabric, leather, or latex, and something that should last a few years. Obviously I can't guarantee quality, but finding an established corset maker will more likely end up giving you the high end item than the low end. My wardrobe currently has both SCA/Renn faire corsets (over and underbust), a renn faire "bodice", fabric bustiers from Hot Topic, a stretch lingerie "corset" from Victoria's Secret, leather corsets from Alter Ego Erotics, a PVC custom made corset from a local corset maker, an off the rack waist cincher from the same local corset maker, two fabric corsets that are underbust, busked in front and lace up back, a fabric overbust corset that is hook and eye with lace up back, and a myriad of PVC tops, halters, bustiers and teddys that have been bought online, at local lingerie shops, and at Good Will.
