ok...have a question for y'all...

I need to clean a couch. Total - not spot clean - and I don't want to call a cleaner...any suggestions as to how I can do this?

Tapestry with all those darn throw pillows.

I'm THINKING that if I get some carpet cleaner and spray it on the pillows, I can scrub them and then toss them into the dryer with wet towels (wet with the carpet cleaner) and the dryer tossing them around will do the trick.

Any other ideas?

I DO have one of those bissel carpet cleaners, but the sprayee-out thingy (it's a technical term) doesn't work, so... I can suck up water but can't spray it out.

Thanks for all your help. I hope someone out there has a good idea.

How about a rental cleaner from a Home Depot or somewhere else?

I remember when I was a kid, my aunt would put rugs on the clothesline and me and my brother and I would beat them with sticks to get the dirt out.

That Bissel sprayee-out thingy can be substituted for with one of those sprayee-bottle thingies they sell at Wal-Mart and similar stores for around a dollar. True, it means you have to use your finger-thingy a lot more, but for the pillows that should not be too bad. As for the rest of the sofa the bissel chemical and a good strong wet-vac should work. One thing to be careful of, if your couch has metal fittings below the fabric they could rust before it dries and leave rust stains in the fabric. Check an area that gets covered by a cushion before you do the whole thing and use the least moisture you can get by with.
