it is hard to get insurance on my own handbuilt UFO.

at times i dont know why im on this planet.

when ever there is a siting it is likely a military secret project.

I don't know but, the last dream I had that I remember really well;

I was standing on the deck of my parent’s house, it was night. I looked up into the sky and there was the most awe inspiring sight I had ever seen. All of the planets we know of, and I believe even more, in the distance; were so close that all the different distinctions of each, were clearly visible. Saturn, which was almost to my direct right, was so close it was huge; the stars never brighter and the colors were awesome. I stood there looking around, taking it all in, wondering what it all meant. The idea of planet jumping came to mind Then I turned to my left; toward the back of the house. It was a bit odd because behind me all that was there were regular looking stars, no planets. Shortly after that, I started seeing small space ships; kind of like what the “Jetsons” rode around in. One stopped and hovered off to my left. I could see there was a driver, and wasn’t sure if I should take cover or not, thinking they were “aliens”. Then the dream ended.

Later when telling a friend about it; I realized I never actually saw what the driver looked like, only that there was one. Kool huh?

First of all...I don't equate UFO with "aliens". It simply means an unidentified flying object...which could be anything...an experimental aircraft, a trick of light, a natural phenomenon, an intentional prank, or something  that we don't understand as yet but that will perhaps be explained by science in the future. Is there life as we know it, or something remotely similar to us in the universe? Perhaps...but I don't think they landed in the swamp in front of "Bubba" and took him aboard the spacecraft for an anal probing.... When I see an alien craft land at JFK and get covered on all the broadcast stations, then I might be prepared to believe in them, but until that time, I am a skeptic.

This was basically what i was going to say...but at the same time Crimson states it perfectly as well...one would have to be very arrogant to think we are the ONLY life in the universe....How/when/why/if those life forms visit is all open to speculation.

Seen to many "weird" weather ballons to believe that that is what they really are.

Can you imagine yourself and thousands of others going to another planet for many, many years, and Never being caught....that makes me go hmmm.

First, who is to say that they have not been caught?  (i.e. Roswell, N.M.)  Second, we live in what we consider a pretty technologically advanced society...yet we have barely been able to even visit our moon, let alone a different planet in our own solar system.  If we are having UFO type visitors they are most likely coming from far distant solar systems...not just neighboring planets.  For them to be able to do so would require a technology so far in advance of our own that it would be like comparing an atomic bomb to a cave man's stick club...or more.  With that kind of technology they should easily be able to avoid detection or being "caught" unless they want to be.

With the millions and billions of galaxies, each with millions and billions of stars, and with all the millions and billions of planets circling those stars, I too have to agree with CrimsonMoan that we would have to be pretty arrogant to believe that we are the only intelligent life in the universe.

I've always liked to apply Michio Kaku's ''goldfish in a pond'' analogy to many different types of scenarios--- Highly advanced extraterrestrial life being one them.

The analogy shows us that goldfish clearly live in a two dimensional world:  They are oblivious to the world that exists above the surface of the water until something pierces it; then they react.

No. Why would they visit us??? They might exist but we are hardly a holiday destination for anyone.

I've read many possible theories as to why they might be visiting...everything from benign to malevolent.  Some think they might be monitoring us to make sure we don't destroy ourselves with atomic weapons and to make sure that, as a race we mentally ready once we have advanced technologically enough for space flight (they don't want us going to other places and blowing THEM up.)  Others wonder if they are watching our planet as a future place for their expansion. (Some SF stories have even suggested they might be keeping us in mind as a future food supply!)

Another theory is that we are a science experiment to them.  For instance...our science has found no "missing link" in the evolution from ape to man.  What if, many years ago, the aliens came to this planet and found lions, and tigers, and bears (oh my!) and even monkeys, chimps, and apes...but no humans?  A technology advanced enough for interstellar flight would quite possibly also be advanced in gene manipulation.  Could they have "created" us "in their image" by gene splicing on apes and are now watching our advancement?  That could explain why no "missing link" has been found.

It is just one theory of many.  Some are extremely far-fetched.  Others have more merit.  It would be easy to think of many reasons why they might want to visit...IF they are real!

juliaoceania -> RE: Do you believe in UFOs/aliens? (7/13/2007 8:34:50 PM)

I do not believe or disbelieve. If life is abundant enough for there to be a bunch of aliens flying around why would they be coming here? I am sure there are better planets to choose from, less polluted and more peaceful, etc....
