i had a GREAT dicussion about this ages ago. Personally i dislike the word in D/s context because i cant get the vanilla one out of my mind. Talk about "serving" our Masters or Tops, Domina's, Misteress' ect ect and i get an image of a tray full of tea. Or waitressing. Personally i rather the words "making happy" or even "pleasing" Sentences that go along the lines of "i like to do things for Master" rather then "i like to serve Master" Though luckily for me, i've a great friend who explained serving in D/s terms and all that it entails. Now i can actually say the word serve, and actually be able to think about it in D/s words. Which to me isnt all that unlike vanilla. Its just not tea trays and being a waitress!
From what i learned, serving is just like pleasing, or doing things. It should be done in a way that satisfies both parties involved and is different for everyone. Tops (for the generic all encompassing term) all like to be "served" differently. One thing maybe a service for one, but not another and lets say cooking is a service to a Top. Depending on how it is done, is also a service. So two Tops may find it a service to have dinner cooked for them, but enjoy the way its cooked or prepared (ect) differently. Cooking the way one Top likes it, may be a service for them, but if you cook it the same way for another, it wont be a service. Of course that is an example.
Any other thoughts?
