Could S/someone please define trollling? Thanks.

Hina00 -> RE: Trolling (7/9/2007 6:11:29 PM)

Posts or topics made by people who aren't really looking for a reply...just like to be annoying. Including really pointless or rude statements....That's the best I can describe it.

or they are "trolling" for someone to bite the hook and take the bait...

someone claims they want to serve then when I "take the bait" and answer their ad or OP they really want sex or some other thing that I'm not willing to do.

I seem to have been guilty of trolling on my second visit here - by putting a description of myself into a very quick chat of Doms. There was quite a quick, vigorous objection from several of them, and the word "troll" used. I'm new to chatting, and didn't know what the term trolling meant. I'd done the same thing in other rooms with nothing but a friendly reception, until now. Then, someone addressed me from a small box to the upper left of the screen. I was attempting to reply to them when I lost the box. If I've offended or broken the general rules, I apologize. Obviously, I didn't understand the rules fully, as a beginner at this

Treat a chat room as if you would a coffehouse.  YOu wouldn't walk in and try and interrupt everyone's conversation just to announce and describe yourself, would you?

LadyHeart -> RE: Trolling (7/9/2007 10:01:00 PM)

I'd define trolling as "self advertising" - and you know what most people do with junk mail....

trolling can also be done via the personals by someone repeatedly sending the same email to a whole lot of Dom/mes and expecting to get a reply.  Waste of My time - I usually just delete and block

Hi

Trolling is a term from long ago when internet chatting was usually done by BBS, it basically mean to ask a quetion, not to really get an answer to to see what response one would get. For exsample a troll could be somone that speaks about a consept for a new computer game and see what responses pepole give the idea, or a common trolling in real life is when a woman tell her frinds, i am so ugly, only hoping to get compliments. That is called fishing but it is the same thing basically.

In modern times though trolling usually means trying to insult pepole on a forum to gain one particular replay. Like if a femenist that go into the Gorean section and start talking about women being superior to men and all men being slaves, just to get angry responses or when somone go into an Spiritual forum and says there is nothing Spiritual and we that belive so are all just crazy and idiots.

Trolling is an atempt to gather allot of respnses about a topic by putting something out on the internet and see what pepole say, often it is meant to anger or insult. It can be for comersial purpoes, or to test the waters for an opinion or just for fun and it is considerd to be very bad form.

i wish you well

instynctive -> RE: Trolling (7/12/2007 5:37:26 AM)

Trolling is also the act of starting a topic just to start a flame war... much like this thread: http://www.collarchat.com/m_1134280/tm.htm

I have a different understanding of the word "troll", which comes from being in many Yahoo groups.  In those groups, a "troll" is someone who joins alot of groups, doesnt reallly participate, and just "trolls" the member lists and message boards, for the purpose of contacting usually women.  They usually rip into a group, email most of the women, or IM them, usually for sex.   The purpose of the group often doesnt matter, since they are usually seeking only one thing, no matter what kind of group it is.
